Understanding God's plan

What George Zimmerman told Sean Hannity closely matches what he told police the day after he shot Trayvon Martin. He doesn't seem to be a racist; he seems like a nice guy.

What intrigued me was this:

"I feel that it was all God's plan, and for me to second guess it," said Zimmerman.

All God's plan. And I wondered, what did he mean by that?

Well, listen to how he describes the appearance of the gun. He says Martin was straddling him and pounding his head into the ground. He tries to shimmy away and his jacket rides up, revealing his holster.

"I realized that it wasn't my gun, it wasn't his gun, it was the gun," said Zimmerman.

"It wasn't my gun, it wasn't his gun, it was the gun." Under no one's control as if it just appeared like a divine experiment?

"He said, 'You're going to die tonight' and took one hand off of my mouth and I felt it going down my chest towards my belt, my holster," said Zimmerman.

And that's when everything changed because now the fight was no longer Martin vs. Zimmerman. It was two men fighting for a gun.

Until that moment, it had been a fist fight. Zimmerman was getting pummeled, but he was successfully defending himself. He admits the police arrived within 30 seconds, which means he probably wasn't in danger of dying until that uncontrolled gun appeared.

So what about God? I think God intended that fights get settled with fists, since hands are the weapons we're born with.

But putting a gun in that hand is a choice that we make.

Maybe God's plan was to use this case to remind us of that.

    Bottom line!!!!

Bigotry/Racism wrapped in religion is still Bigotry/Racism and we see Bigotry/Racism on this blog and in the world everyday that is neatly packaged under guise of religion.

I find it interesting that he is getting his butt kicked and not in control, but as soon as he notice that Trayvon notices the gun, he is a man on a mission and is able to overpower Travon and get the gun and shoot him, lol.

    Oh Boy

I find it interesting that you mention racism, when it was racist black people that got him charged to begin with. Or is that what you were referring to?

Earth to Zimmerman (or rather Heaven to Zimmerman) :::
Even in the days God spoke directly to a lot of people (Noah, Moses, et al), I don't know He worked hand in hand with each of us every moment of our lives. .. We WERE, after all, given free will. Without it, all we would be is just cute pets in the zoo called Planet Earth. And even God might get tired of cute pets eventually.

So - I somehow doubt Gad had George Zimmerman shoot Trayvon Martin for His amusement.

What this whole story DOES sound like to me is a guy who made a very bad mistake now sitting around both then and now thinking up how he can justify his actions to himself. Let alone to society or to God. Just a scared man trying to cope with taking the life of another human being.

Maybe God does have a plan for George Zimmerman. But maybe nothing to do with the shooting, except the acceptance of responsibility. And maybe it hasn't even started yet.

    God's plan?
Maybe it's "God's plan" to remind us to fight with our fists? That's ridiculous. It's more likely God's plan to remind us not to fight at all. The death of Martin is very sad, but he is the one that made it physical. By all accounts, he turned, attached, and was beating Zimmermans head into the sidewalk when the shot was fired. The lesson here should me, don't throw the first punch, because you never know how it will turn out. If Zimmerman had died of some sort of head injury, we never would have heard of this, but Martin would be headed to jail.

    The Reasons........
#1 - Zimmerman was being beaten, with Travon straddled over him, pounding his head into the ground. THIS IS HAPPENING BEFORE THE GUN IS PART OF THE SCENE. Trayvon is assaulting Zimmerman in the 1st degree, and the shooting is self defense. So anyways, it's sad that Trayvon was shot and killed, and my condolenses to his family, but It is pretty hard to be the victim when you are on top of another man beating him to death.

    in the end
like it or not, Trayvon made some very bad mistakes. He was making them long before this, but these decisions ended his life. It is sad, but we cannot keep blaming Zimmerman. Trayvon may not have deserved the death penalty, but Zimm surely didn't either! I hope that parents everywhere think about this and try to raise thier kids with respect and steer them away from violence.

Caravanman and "Trevon's very bad mistakes"...
You miss the point. Zimmerman wasn't reacting to the entire, checkered history of Martin's youth. He wasn't reacting to some report, dredged up days later, that Martin had been in trouble for carrying a screw driver in his backpack at school, ("burglar tools!" according to Fox News), he wasn't judging Martin's life history at that point. Such life history judgment has been the realm of Zimmerman apologists since the shooting. (Sort of like retiring retroactively)

Zimmerman didn't know *who* Martin was, but he was pretty sure *what* he was. A black kid, in a hoodie, walking around a neighborhood he felt it was his duty to patrol while armed with a gun. "Oh boy! Here's my chance to man up and be a hero! I can catch me one of them thar sneaky folk who wear hoodies! He sure looks like he's up to no good, just exactly like I told the 9-11 dispatcher"

God's will? "Go thou,Zimmerman, and arm thyself with a pistol! Lay thee in wait until my sacrifice appears. Ignore thee any advice of the police to remain in your vehicle. Follow thy victim and provoke a violent confrontation. As the fight breaks out, protect thyself by slaying my sacrifice for me!"

Uh, I think not. Zimmerman may have heard a voice instructing him to do all the specific things he did that led to him killing an unarmed young man returning to his Dad's apartment from a nearby convenience store- but as I understand God I will say it wasn't God's will or God's plan that Zimmerman would slay Martin.

With good reason he knew "what" Trayvon was, or do we just forget about the crime wave inflicted by young black men in hoodies? I think not! As far as him manning up and playing hero, good on him! I wish more people cared about their neighbors and where they lived! It was a sad ending, but Trayvon made the decision to be the "angry man that isn't going to take it anymore" as we all hear about in rap music. This is what got him killed. A little calmness and self control would have resulted in Zimm holding him till the cops came and all would have been straightened out!

Caravanman actually wrote: "do we just forget about the crime wave inflicted by young black men in hoodies?"
Oh....my....gosh. Trayvon Martin is suddenly and personally responsible and punishable for a crime wave?

So that's it, eh? There's a stereotypical perception that young black men wearing hooded sweatshirts are all involved in a "crime wave"? Oh, well, since you put it that way might was well just shoot any one of them on sight. If you don't kill an actual criminal, it will send a message to the rest of "them" and that will cut down on crime, you know. :-(

Man, you bleeding hearts are sure stupid! You keep living in your little perfect world and let them rob and violate you. Me? I am stying and profiling! I will not be a victim! So someone walking down a public street has no right to protecting himself from a no body who took it upon himself to be the local sheriff. In the interview Zimmerman stated that Trayvon saw the gun during the fight and that would lead me to believe that instead of it being just a fight it was a life/death struggle in Trayvons mind. The fault lays in Zimmermans lap for introducing the GUN.Zimmerman claimed that Trayvon struck him in the head a dozen times and he feared for his life but the photos taken shortly after certainly did'nt show much damage to Zimmermans head to show he should have felt his life was in jepordy

The stand your ground law protects a person in Zimms situation, as you and the world will soon see. I believe Zimm, mostly due to traythugs past and facebook posts. They show him as a thug. A thug would do what Zimm said happened. Zimm tried to stop him and or keep an eye on him until the cops could get there. Tray didn't like that and decided to stand his ground as well. Unfortunatley, traythug died. It could have went the other way and tray would have been protected by the law.
