Dori Awards - let the voting begin!

Dori writes...

13 years ago, when I first started my talk show on KIRO, there was a loud outcry to have me fired - because, according to the critics, I was so dang annoying.

When you have lemons - make lemonade. That's why, when we decided to select the most annoying people of the year, we named the award after me. To the consternation of our critics, we're still on the air - and Wednesday, it's time for the 14th annual edition of the Dori Awards. Which means we need you to select the most annoying local and national people of 2008.

I've included e-mail votes before - but, for the first time, the votes in the comments section of this blog will also be included in our final tally. In my post yesterday, a lot of people had some great nominations - but now it's time for your actual votes.

First, some groundrules: You may not vote for one of my KIRO colleagues - I'm a team player - if you have a problem with some other show on KIRO, call them and talk with that host directly about it.

You may not vote for one of our commercial sponsors - I'm a capitalist - and I do not bite the hand that feeds me and my family.

And finally, once someone has won a Dori Award, they are no longer eligible. And that means that past winners cannot get your vote. Here is a list of past winners who are not eligible in 2008:

Local past winners: Clay Bennett; Greg Nickels; Christine Gregoire; Paul Berendt; Jim McDermott; Ron Sims; Jeff Renner, Tim Eyman, Dori Monson.

National past winners: Al Gore; Rosie O'Donnell; Cindy Sheehan; Michael Moore; Michael Jackson; Trent Lott; George W Bush; Florida.

The ballot box is open - let the voting begin for the 2008 Dori Awards. I've given you a tremendous amount of power here - do not abuse it.

I've had an epiphany... (sent earlier)
After ending a 3-day binge at the Muckleshoot I stopped by Payday Loans for some cash. I was running low on funds and needed some help before my next unemployment check came in. Back at my place, I took a nap and got up around noon just in time to listen to Dori, check todays blog entry and settle in for some gaming action on the X-BOX. While I was playing I was thinking about who I would nominate for most annoying personalities of 2008 and was having a hard time coming up with anyone. While washing my hands in the bathroom I looked up and saw myself in the mirror. I had my answer. My nominations for the 2008 Dori awards are: Local---Me and every other lazy, greedy, where's my handout, looking for a free ride, spending beyond my means, not my fault, Bush blaming individual. For National:---Me and every other lazy, greedy, where's my handout, looking for a free ride, spending beyond my means, not my fault, Bush blaming individual. Tomorrow I go look for a job. Wish me luck.

Can't believe she gets constant "free pass..."
Hillary Clinton, can it get any more annoying than her? Could you imagine having to look at her daily, and then listen to that screeching (non-motivating) voice every day! Amazing we live in a country where 50% of the people want to make someone President just because she was married to one. Not really surprised though, since the other 50% wanted someone to be President just because he was "born" from one. (I know he was birthed technically by Martha.) Just like (technically Hillary isn't really married to William.) Can we at least pass a law that we can have "no more direct family members elected President?) Out of 43 Presidents you would think there were some other families to choose from...

Dori Awards version of the October surprise, Blago.
On a national level, the October surprise is Illinois governor, Rod Bribegovich. On a local level, Darcy Burner. She is the most annoying person I have ever seen on TV. "Hi, I'm Darthy Burner and I approved this methage".

Most Annoying locally: Darcy Burner What I find most annoying is the way she talks. She uses a slow, simplistic, overly sweet style as if the voters are in kindergarten and she's reading us an afternoon story. That is unless she is really annoyed like when she was on "The Commentators" then her speech style changed dramatically. Most Annoying Nationally: Mike Huckabee Reason: Acting as if he's still on the campaign trail and continually criticizing some of his past contenders for the Republican Party Nomination. If he has that kind of one track mind and the in ability to let go of grudges. I really hope the Republican Party does not seriously consider him in the next four years.
