Zoo mauling: Would you have tried to save your kid?

A toddler fell into wild dog pit on Sunday at the Pittsburgh zoo and was fatally mauled. The mom, who put the 2-year-old up on the exhibit railing, didn't do anything to help save him. Zookeepers say the 11 dogs attacked within seconds.

Would you have jumped in to save your child? Even if you knew it was likely you'd be mauled?

    if anyone answered different, but you'd have to tie me down to keep me out. I can't believe anyone wouldn't do the same for their kid.

    Depends if it is my favorite kid or not, if the kid had been misbehaving that day, if the kid hadn't gotten me a Fathers day card...I mean the factors are just endless. I think really, we need to look at the facts here. DONT PUT YOUR GODD*AMN KID ON THE RAILING OVERLOOKING A WILD ANIMAL SECTION AT THE ZOO!!!! ESPECIALLY THE WILD DOG EXHIBIT!!! If you want to throw your kid on the railing of the wild prairie dogs exhibit by all means go ahead.

    I have a C.P.L and a Glock 32 and probably wouldn't have needed a extra mag.And yes I would have done the 14 foot drop.

    I would't be dumb enough to put my child in the position to fall into a wild dog pit!!! Any mother that dumb shoudn't be allowed to have more children.

    lets examine the action that put the kid in with the dogs. WHAT THE HECK WAS SHE THINKING? Clearing she was not thinking and her parenting skills come into question. THEN she chooses not to go into the enclosure to help her child. WHOA!! Glads she's not MY mom. Perhaps she wanted to get rid of the child. Perhaps she is mentally ill. Did the father have a clue his wife should not have had kids? so many questions and no clear answeres.

    So the two year old was standing on the rail... ok makes sense. but the only way a two year old can lose its balance and fall in, is if Mom lets go of the baby. what 2 year old can balance on a railing by itself? the question is now, why did the mom let go in the first place, and secondly, why did she not jump in after it? either way, I can't imagine living with what happened.

    Even reading this story makes me want to jump in there and rescue that baby. I'm wondering if the mom just froze up with fear. There was a time that my child was choking and I just froze up with fear and all I could do was scream and hand her off to my husband. What if he wasn't there? IDK what would have happened. I'm just saying we don't know for sure what was going through the ladies head.
