Don't let the election results steal your happiness

The days of speculation are over. Tuesday night has come and gone and reminded us that in an election, there are winners and losers. But don't be hurt if your guy or gal didn't come out the winner.

Dori is still smiling, and his pick for president didn't win - and it's likely his pick for governor won't win either.

When it came to Dori's like-minded friends however, he said many became despondent.

"I'm deeply invested and I care about the outcome," said Dori. Still, even though his picks weren't winners, instead of falling into a depression, he is remembering all of his blessings in life.

Likewise, he doesn't understand the gloaters. Receiving D-Mails from some listeners bragging about how Obama won or that Inslee is in the lead rubs Dori the wrong way.

"Like I'm going to feel even worse if they send me a nasty email? I don't care! I'm going to to keep living my life. I have a lot of blessings in life."

    Good for Dori
Actually, having Obama and Inslee win creates more talking points for Dori's show. He should have plenty to talk about for the next 4 years. I look forward to hearing his opinions. The Republican's should hire more PR guys for 2016 to tell Trump "you're not helping, cut it out" and to the candidates "stop talking about rape" and if you do, you can only be sympathetic. Also, make sure no one is able to secretly record what you say in private or in confidence.

    I feel much better, Dori.
Now that I've adopted the lib dem ways of the PNW, to include not stopping at all for a right turn, speeding in parking garages, drinking coffee to excess, complaining about the Seahawks QB, complainging about the Mariners, Coug'n it, fantasies that UW are a national championship team every year in every sport, hating the Thunder and David Stern, jumping up and down for 90 minutes so I don't fall asleep during a soccer game, smoking hemp (oops, that's smoking a blunt/doobie/joint now), coming out of the closet, becoming an atheist, pining for the state of Cascadia to be redrawn, coming together in a social efforts such as the Occupy movement and defacating, urinating, and raping my way across King County without repurcussion, and quitting my job and joining the other 49% on government assistance.

that although they voted for 0bama the first time, thinks obamacare needs to be repealed for the devastating effects on companies, said he would probably vote for him again, and did, then sent an email reviewing the election with the reviewers views. imagine if this was 2004 and the other way around. ironic.

Not sure what your point is, but I do find CEOs telling their
employees who to vote for distasteful.

    A favorite of mine.....
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years....... Alexis de Tocqueville (a Frenchman for sure)

wink wink A quote which I have long contended he plagiarized from B Franklin...

    Looks like 47% and growing, have figured this one out. Shouldn't be too long till she tips...... :-{

The collapse of democracies is like climate change, it's natural and there's nothing humans can do about it.

    No, actually!

The collapse of all civilizations is inevitable, given enough time. History teaches us that. But we seem to be helping this one along, lately.

The inherent problem with a Democracy, however, is found in the quote above, and later exploited. Exploited by both the greedy and power hungry politicians (redundant, I know) as well as a selfish and ignorant electorate.

To emphasise the point, another quote I am familiar with from Alexis de Tocqueville: "The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money..."

We see that happening to the nth degree as of late.

BTW: Don't confuse me with the crowd which looks at all things political. Climate change to me, as is true of many issues, is not a political issue. If you get your information, views and talking points from Rush Limbaugh and Al Gore, you become too hardened to listen to any other possibilities. I have heard from both of them as well as "experts" on the issue. I however am a skeptic. Whether it be politics, science and or religion I always seek a persons motive while listening to their words.

Humans are caretakers of the Earth. We can make it a beautiful place to live or make it very undesirable. There are natural climate changes that ebb and flow, if you will. We as humans may have some influence, especially today. How much is still TBD.

Another BTW: To your question posed in the subject line... No, actually. It is not me that is "saying". It is just me quoting others who have come before me and studied history up to their time and wrote down their conclusions......
