Has 'shaming punishment' gone too far?

More and more, parents are turning to shaming as a form of punishment for their misbehaving children. Some are starting to wonder, including Dori, if it's gotten out of hand.

After telling the story of parents that made their 9th grade daughter pose with a sign after sneaking a boy into her room and drinking. Dori says praise should be public, punishment private. That wasn't the end of the conversation, you've been weighing in with your comments on Facebook. A poll set up on Dori's page has listener opinions in a three way tie as to the proper way to punish a child.

Is it okay for parents to punish their children by publicly humiliating them? Share your opinion now, or join Dori tomorrow in the 1 o'clock hour to debate the shame.

    No shame
I don't think a teenage girl is ashamed of sneaking drinks and sneaking boys into her room. That's what kids do , the shame comes from Getting caught.

Yea! It makes great bragging points.
And may have boost her popularity with the crowd that she runs around with. And beyond. Besides if children are not taught shame and personal responsibility how will this produce any deterrent?

    Who went to far?
You, Dori. You keep referring to this young girl as a sl*t. The parents did not say anything about her being a sl*t. Only you keep saying that. They stated a fact - she snuck a boy into the house. You make the assumption that she was having sex with the boy (and even that would not make her a sl*t, in my opinion). My parents didn't do this, but they certainly spanked me in public as a young teen because I was disrespecting them. It definitely made me think twice about acting out again. In this case, I am sure calling her a sl*t over and over again will help show her the right way, Dori. You just never disappoint with your opinions.
