Governor Gregoire still won't come on the Dori Monson Show

A Dori Monson Show listener who works for the State of Washington sent Dori a D-Mail to tell him that Governor Gregoire was going to pay a farewell visit to his office and host a Q&A session for the department's employees.

The listener said he would ask the Governor if she would consider appearing on the Dori Monson Show after her term is up.

Governor Gregoire, who has long abstained from commenting on the show after Dori accused her of lying about raising taxes, said she would not appear on the show.

The Governor's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment by phone and email.

Here is the listener's letter, with his description of events:

I don't think she liked me asking her that question J Her answer, and I quote, was "No. Not only no, but hell no!" She said that you don't operate with any morals and that you have selectively edited her conversations with you, for your benefit. She finished it all off by saying "and I feel good about that!"

Not that I was expecting any different answer. I'm sure you weren't either. I do wish we were recording the meeting, because I think the audio would have been priceless for you. I know there were a couple photographers circling around and taking pictures, including one of me asking the question, but I couldn't find it to attach to the email for you.

Gregoire also said a couple things that took me by surprise.

1. She said that the only reason we implemented LEAN practices in the state was because we were "forced to." She whined about having to cut the budget, and that LEAN principles were implemented AFTER the budget cut as a way of minimizing the felt effects of the cuts. As a taxpayer, I find this appalling. Why are we (the state) not doing EVERYTHING to save as much money as possible.

2. She eluded to the fact that the dems are going to challenge the 2/3 vote to raise taxes in the courts. She believes this measure is unconstitutional; and many of my coworkers, to my utter surprise (sarcasm), agreed.

3. And the most shocking thing… She stated that Washington State's residents account for 5% of the population of these United States account for 50% of the healthcare costs to Medicare and Medicaid. Have you heard these statistics? If this is true, we either have, by far, the worst health in the country, there is massive waste in this state, or there is massive fraud!

    The governor needs to answer to you every time something happens. She's ducking you Dori or she really thinks that you don't really matter in the larger scheme of things. Which one do you think?

    Come on Dori's show and was treated fairly well. Dori was polite.

    As soon as I walk off the show, Dori starts playing clips out of context, calling me a liar and making fun of how I look (no mirrors in the Monson household).

    longwayhome....just what has she done for WA State??? She didn't even come out & support gay marriage until AFTER she decided not to run for re-election-then somehow her "conscience kicked in"! What Dori does that you won't find Dave & Luke doing for example is ask real/relevant questions-you won't get fluffy ha ha ha banter. Like it-or don't- I'd rather have our elected officials asked tough questions-the kind of questions I would ask if I could!

    Why would she want to appear on the Dori Monson show? I sure there are many other radio and TV shows where she would be treated with respect, unlike on his show. Who listens to it anyway?

You're lucky your guests don't bit_ch slap you. Why don't you interview some of your football friends like you do our elected officials? They would pinch your little head off.

    I'm sure that Ron and Don would give her a fair interview, Ross and Burbank give her due respect as a two term Governor. She does not have an agenda, she is going to move onto different things in her life and she doesn't need a has been sports announcer questioning what she has done in her 8 years as Governor. Your track record as a political dude are abysmal. Stick to sports, you aren't even good at that.

    I find it incredibly sad that politics has gotten to the current state that it is in. Politicians on both sides of the isle lie to their constituents, only go on media that is friendly to them, give approved questions that the media are allowed to ask them, and they get upset when someone asks them a question that shines a light on negative aspects of their policy. I'm sorry, but shouldn't we examine all benefits AND drawbacks of policies? Why can't we get REAL, HONEST people to lead our country; the type that aren't afraid to "spar" with their political opponents? Commenters on this forum that only bash Dori because they disagree with his politics apparently not only approve of this corrupt form of politics, but actively support the further corruption by trying to silence or minimize the opposition. It is truly sad.

    Perhaps the media holds alot of the blame for this type of behavior from our politicans.When words are taken out of context or video is edited to reflect a poor image of the person then perhaps you can understand the reaction.Its time the public got smart and held the media more accountable.Let me ask you you mentioned the USA was a Great Nation, WHEN? and when did it STOP being great? What is your definition of a Great Nation?
