Dori and Jake are really sick

The Center for Disease Control always release warnings during flu season to warn people to stay home from work if they get really sick. Dori and Jake, however, ignored the CDC's warnings for the sake of Dori Monson Show listeners.

"I had to peel myself out of bed," said producer Jake. "I've actually never heard you as sick as you were when you walked into the office."

And they took precautions, as anyone who watched the KIRO Radio live video stream could see; they were considerate enough to wear cotton face masks.

Still, everyone from KIRO Radio's programming director to Jake told Dori not to go to work.

"It's the day after the Seahawks game, that's what everyone wants to talk about," said Dori. "So I have to come in to do the show. They're paying me for today! I can't let them pay me for laying on the couch."

The virus hit Dori at 2 a.m. Saturday, just a week after he had finally gotten his flu shot. By the end of Sunday afternoon's Seahawks game Dori was miserable.

"I've been burning the candle at both ends," said Dori. "You know, doing the show, doing the Seahawks, doing the coaching, and so it's like 100-plus hours a week between the three."

To top it all off, the only flight Dori could take to get to Seattle on time for the show was a flight on Monday at 6:30 a.m. Eastern Time. That meant setting his alarm for the equivalent of 1:15 a.m. Seattle time.

Jake and Dori are trying not to breathe on anyone, but we're all still taking precautions.

"I'm just going to keep disinfecting everything," said news anchor Ursula Reutin.

Maybe if everybody would quit over-using anti-biotics and flu shots....
the human immune system would still have a shot at defending itself against the flu... when you give people antibiotics for every stupid sniffle it only acts to allow germs etc. to grow an immunity to our drugs... I haven't had the flu in about 5 years... I don't do anything out of the ordinary to avoid it, but i also didn't grow up in the age of disinfecting every stupid thing so my immune system has actually been exposed to germs and can actually fight this stuff. Stupid doctors....

    anti-biotics and flu shots
Maybe if everybody understood the difference between what an ANTIBIOTIC (Bacterial) and FLU (virus) is. There's a reason doctors can legally practice medicine -and bloggers are not allowed to.

    flu vs. cold
I have found that many people say they have the flu when they actually just have a common cold. It sounds way more dramatic and gets you more sick days ;-) There is a huge difference between the cold and the flu.

I have never had a flu shot

and neither has my kids and they may get a sniffle once or twice a year, I get sick maybe once a year and use ancient momma's secrets to this day to heal myself and family and none of it comes from the doctor. Kids at my son's school seem like they are sick every other month.

    I hate people like that
Why do people like Dori think their lives, and jobs are so much more important than everyone else's? He infected everyone at Kiro, and an entire plane full of people! What a loser! He's lucky I wasn't sitting next to him on the plane. And then to top it off, he spends 3 hours joking about it on the air.

Actually 2 hours, since the 3rd hour is just a repeat, because we all know Dori could never come up with 3 hours of material; stealing stories from Gawker and the Daily Mail takes a lot of effort.

    hectic
it's called gettin' er done man. if everyone stayed home when they were sick there would be no one left to pull the ever increasing dead weight that is 1/3 of our society. i say kudos to dori and jake for gutting it out. even though they are both digging deep to be at work i found the show today to be great as usual. me and tens of thousands of people were entertained for three hours by them. what impact on society did you make today hectic?

    I am weeping for them....
Serving the armed forces, I came to work deadly sick. My supervisor told me to 'suck it up.' I did and I recovered. Only a few days later did that same supervisor call in sick with my same symptoms. His wife told him to call in sick! Only problem, we spotted him driving with his wife during lunch hour towards the BX. Just suck it up...get to work! No excuses. I made it that day...you and Jake can make it. BTW...my supervisor was a wimp.
