You Be The Jury: Mom hires strippers for sweet sixteen party

A tasteless crime caught Dori's eye and now he wants Dori Monson Show listeners to decide the fate of a New York woman facing jail time after hiring strippers for her son's sweet 16.

Judy Viger, 33, is accused of hiring two exotic dancers for her son's 80-person party at a Glens Falls bowling alley. Some of the guests were as young as 13 and other moms were understandably outraged. She was arrested and charged Monday with endangering the welfare of a child, and now faces up to a year in jail if convicted.

"Doesn't that seem a little illegal," said producer Jake, "from the stripper's perspective?"

But Police say the agency that sent the "dancers", Tops in Bottoms, was unaware that they were going to be dancing for minors. Officers involved say they have cooperated fully and will not be prosecuted.

But Dori thinks the woman shouldn't be prosecuted. He says it's a case of bad judgment, not a crime, although if another dad threw a party for one of his daughter's friends and brought male strippers, he'd probably be out for blood.

"In all honesty, I'd say no charges at all," said Dori. "There were other adults there, they could have said or done something. She's an idiot. I'd keep my kid away from her kid."

Listeners overwhelmingly agreed with Dori, saying that sixteen-year-olds probably have seen worse on the Internet. Even an ex-cop who called in said he wouldn't consider it a criminal offense.

"It's kind of uncomfortable reality," said Michael, "that kids are becoming sexually active at a younger and younger age."

"No, I wouldn't charge her," said listener John. "I'd let it go. I think it's cool."

News anchor Ursula Reutin said that she would have yanked her son out of the party. But she doesn't think the mom should go to jail.

"That picture, though, that would be aggressive even for adults. That is a serious lap dance," said Ursula. "I'd say charge her so that would appease people who are really upset, but find another punishment so she show she has learned from her mistake."

Jake observed that this woman is probably the same kind of parent who would buy alcohol for her son and his friends. That makes him want to teach her a lesson, and he suggested community service or probation.

Now Dori wants you to decide: should this mom go to jail for hiring strippers for her son's sweet sixteen party?

What you're saying on Facebook:

Jonny Hernandez: Horrible judgment, absolutely, but I dont think she deserves jail time. Civil suits from the other parents might make sense.

Jason Hunt: Man some kids have all the luck!!

Shane OFlaherty: Guilty guilty guilty

Gunnar Mein: Guests as young as 13. Is there really any discussion here? Of course she should do time.

Erika Rummell-Romero: I don't think jail time is fair. She's dumb but I know much younger kids seeing nudity on tv at home....just saying

Parisa Parvini: Come on... she gets arrested and the person who stole money from Lake Forest Park people was not charged!

Linda Daugs Butler: maybe protective custody....... if I was one of the other parents....????

Stacey Faulkner Rohweder: I wonder if all the men that are okay with this would feel the same way if their 13-16 yr old daughter was in the same position. Yes many of you are right they probably have seen worse...They have seen murders, robbery and everything else... do we want our children to be around any of that? God have mercy us and our country.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
YES she should be charged for a crime. the stripper should be charged with a crime too!!! If i read that right you said the 16 year old got a lapdance... that's called Sexual molestation of a minor... doesn't matter if the boy was a willing participant, if they had sex it wouldn't matter if the boy was a willing participant now would it? The mom is obviously an unfit moron considering she is 33 and her son is 16 she's also apparently good at making horrible decisions too. Nip this in the bud send the idiot to jail she exposed children to pornography... that is illegal.

This is a joke. What is the mother really guilty of; giving her 16 yr old son what he wanted? I doubt it would be the worst thing a 16 yr old today has seen. It doesn't say this was an un-consented request either and so I think there is more to this story than being reported. How else does a 16 yr old draw 80+ guests to a b-day party?! I hope he didn't get any gift cards, I know I'd be asking for $1 bills.

Ted Jones - are you for real?
Give the kid what he wanted? 16 year old kids want to try alcohol you want to hand them the bottle you ret#rd? People like you are so dumb, you think it's not damaging for a kid to have his mom provide him a stripper at 16 then you're an idiot.

why would i be jealous? I have a wife, I have a fulfilling sex life, i'm not some horny 18 year old that needs to peek at b00bies i can't touch... hiring a stripper is pathetic.

whose Dad took him to see a young lady of the sort as a birthday present-17 or so... he forever was screwed up. Couldn't be faithful to his wife if his four kids counted on it. This stuff really messes people up.

    I agree with Jake
She's probably doing more wrong behind the scenes that no one knows about. Better teach her a lesson now, then try to "rehabilitate" this kid when he is older and causing trouble of his own

I didn't say I agreed with her, but her actions, like people calling me mean things (ex. ret#rd), are out of my control. You know, in WA, the age of consent is 16, so we already recognize in this state that young adults are allowed to be responsible for their own sex-lives. And I would say at least 65% of what is on TV, the internet or even the water scene at sea-fair is worse than a couple of scantily clad dancers - god bless their souls. I just don’t think the mothers actions are negligent enough to warrant jail time or any other legal ramification, except maybe, a court ordered parenting class.

Yes you did in fact agree with her. read your statement again. 16 year olds are sophomores in highschool they aren't consenting adults and sex crimes can be charged against people for having sex with a 16 year old so don't start with that crap. 65% of what's on tv is not worse than a live stripper grinding on a kid you moron. It sounds to me like you're a pathetic loser that has to go to strip clubs to even get close to a naked woman so i get that you're a loser and that is probably why you're cool with this but this is a Child and kids as young as 13 were at this party it's not appropriate for Children to be exposed to that, this is why you have so many teens getting pregnant and why kids are completely enamoured with sexuality earlier than they should be, because idiots like you and this woman push it on them before they're ready to deal with it in a responsible way.

or, just a yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo...whaddup, homey-g?

cause, last i checked, "SWEET 16" was the name given to GIRLS 16th birthday parties. NOT boys.

thanks MTV for veering SO FAR away from music that you have a show where 15 year olds bully their parents into spending LITTERALLY hundreds of THOUSANDS of dollars on insane parties for their moron kids. (oh, and not to mention that they ALL get a car and almost NONE ever get a license that day.)

this parent is a fool. the kid is probably no brainiac himself. my kid wouldn't assoicate with a kid who's parents would even consider that.

Oly - look at the Mom's age
a little quick math lets you know she had him when she was 17... which means she was possibly 16 when he was conceived, this is the problem and the reason why we keep having teen pregnancies and people that aren't ready to be parents Facking up kids minds... because they become irresponsible because they're not ready to be parents... this is illegal... there were 13 year old kids here, that's not only immoral i believe it's illegal lock this fruit up and take her kid away.

Underneath all of your name calling, you make little sense and are coming across as a troll on a soapbox (oxymoron?). Like I said, I doubt the strippers showed up un-announced so, oh well a 13 year old saw a dancing girl, I bet everyone in attendance knew what was about to happen. And if you think that this was the first time ANY of them had ever seen something of that nature, get your head out of the sand.
