UPDATE: Well, Dori was wrong. Tuesday night’s lowest ever attendance was not a fluke. The Wednesday night game against the Astros set a new record at Safeco for 10,493 – officially the lowest ever attendance.
Dori is calling the Mariners’ second home game at Safeco Field a fluke.
Why? Because they had the lowest attendance ever at 10,745 fans.
With a score of 16-9 against the Houston Astros, Dori is a little surprised it was that many.
“I’m telling you if this is what we’re going to see: 16-9 games that go over three-and-a-half hours and balls flying out of there, this is going to be one long season.”
When Dori flipped by the game at 10:30pm, “it looked like there were about 20 people still left in the stadium.”
Clearly, no fair weather fans in the seats.
“I’m hoping that last night was an aberration. It was one night, it was a fluke…we hope.”
