The city of Kirkland is looking at gondolas for public transportation and they’re selling this as one of the fastest growing mass transit systems in the world.
This is the stupidest idea ever.
They say that they can build an aerial tramway that will whisk people all around Kirkland. The only problem is none have ever been built here in America, not on any large scale. Portland has one but it was way, way over budget. Vancouver and Victoria B.C. say they’re looking at gondola routes.
You know how fast a gondola goes? Ten miles and hour. It’s like the slowest mass transit system imaginable. So why not just walk?
We’re all fat anyway. We’ve got an obese society. Just make people in Kirkland walk. You can walk almost 10 miles an hour over a short distance. Kirkland is not that big.
When are people going to stop with these ridiculous ideas?
We study a monorail and blew through $100 million in Seattle, the money’s just poof gone. We can’t dig a tunnel.
Maybe we should just build a few more roads because that actually works, that actually gets people to where they’re going.
Gondolas in Kirkland that is really brilliant. Good luck with that Kirkland.
