Dorothy Hunter, co-owner of Paws Natural Pet Emporium, has vowed to eat pet food for an entire month.
Hunter tells KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson Show that she’s doing this to try and educate people about the quality of some pet products out there.
“A lot of companies I work with they actually use USDA grade-A products,” says Hunter. “They get it from the same food purveyor they use for restaurants. But in the pet industry they’re not allowed to put that on the package. I think that it’s only fair that the consumers as well as me as a buyer in a retail store, that we’re able to have that information.”
For the month of July, Hunter has vowed to eat only pet food products. She’s keeping a video log of her exercise on the store’s Facebook page. The Fourth of July was the hardest day so far she says, with all the barbecue smells wafting around everywhere.
