This recording of City Council meeting makes me glad I don’t live in Seattle

I’m one of Seattle’s native sons, born on the mean streets of Ballard.
My wife and I even bought our first home in Ballard. But then we thought, we’re going to have kids some day and we don’t want them growing up in the Seattle Public Schools. I went to the Seattle Public Schools and look what a mess I am. I can’t inflict that on my kids.
So my wife and I, before we had kids, we said we’ve got to get out to the suburbs, better schools, and there just wasn’t much of a sense of community in Seattle at the time.
But I’m glad I’m out of the city because Seattle is in so many ways just crazy politically. To illustrate that, this morning there was a City Council hearing where Kshama Sawant let people come down to this hearing on this blustery Wednesday morning so they could vent about Seattle City Light’s Jorge Carrasco.
We recorded the meeting just to see the type of people in Seattle who turn out for a Wednesday morning council meeting. We made a little compilation of some of the highlights. I have never been so glad to get out of the city as I am after listening to this motley assemblage at this hearing.
