In what might be the ultimate irony, Seattle's Freedom Socialist Party has posted a help wanted ad online offering $13 an hour, despite it's backing of a $15 minimum wage. (AP)

Seattle’s Freedom Socialist Party has been a leading force behind the effort to increase the minimum wage to $15. So you’d have to figure the group would make sure it pays its own people that much, right? Not so much.

It turns out the organization is looking for a fairly skilled web content manager, but as a number of listeners of the Dori Monson Show quickly let us know, the job only pays $13 an hour.

“Maybe more listeners D-mailed me more than any story ever,” Dori says.

Perhaps it’s because Dori has railed about the Socialist Party and Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant for what he calls their rampant hypocrisy. He says this is particularly ironic, since the group actually advocates a $20 minimum wage on its own website.

“No matter how lousy you are at your job, no matter how slothful you are, how lazy, how horrible a worker you are, guaranteed annual income of $20 an hour. That’s their party line,” Dori says.

So you can imagine Dori’s reaction when he learned of the job posting.

“Huh, maybe you can’t afford to pay people $15 an hour, Socialist Party headquarters? Maybe the complaint that other businesses have lodged against your major campaign for $20 an hour, or $15 an hour, even where they say you know we can’t afford it? Gosh, I guess you know a little bit about what that’s like not to be able to afford something?!”

That isn’t the only irony. Dori points out while the organization touts its work on behalf of the environment, the job specifically prohibits telecommuting.

“I guess saving the environment isn’t that important. What, are you afraid you might hire somebody who’s not a self starter who wants to work for your radical organization? Think that they need hands on managing to get the job done for the $13 an hour you’re paying them? You bunch of stinking hypocrites.”

Not surprisingly, calls to the Freedom Socialist Party were not returned.
