Dori: Difficult to understand how empty Lamar Odom must be

There’s no way the owner of the Love Ranch would have known if Lamar Odom brought drugs with him for his four-day stay at the Nevada brothel, he told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson.

Dennis Hof said the the former NBA player was told not to bring drugs to the brothel. Odom has a history of drug use, according to reports. He was found unresponsive Tuesday afternoon and has since been in a medically-induced coma.

“It’s no different than WalMart or a night club or church,” Hof explained. “Anybody could bring drugs in and we wouldn’t know.”

However, Odom reportedly took cocaine and as many as 10 sexual performance pills. The Nye County Sheriff’s Department was informed that he had taken drugs during the call to 9-1-1, USA Today reports.

Odom arrived at the brothel over the weekend and paid $75,000 for four to five days of undivided attention from a few of the employees. He was in “great spirits,” Hof said.

Odom seemed fine Tuesday morning, Hof said. However, he was found unconscious around 3 p.m.

“It’s a sad turn of events,” Hof said.

Odom, 35, last played basketball in the NBA in 2013. He is the husband of television star Khloe Kardashian; the two have reportedly had a rocky relationship. Could that have factored into Odom’s behavior at the brothel, Dori asked.

“Any signs of a guy in distress?” Dori wondered.

Hof said Odom received a call about an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that re-aired that may have upset him. If it did, that was only for an hour or so, he added.

“It’s such a sad story,” Dori said. It’s difficult to understand how “empty” a person would have to be to pay $75,000 for four days at a brothel. “I just cannot imagine how empty his soul was…”
