If you want a haircut and want to root for the former Sonics in the NBA finals, don’t bother stopping at the Roosevelt Barbershop in Northeast Seattle. The sign says it all:
Owner Rex Alcantara joined the 97.3 KIRO FM Dori Monson Show to explain why Thunder fans aren’t welcome.
“Growing up we always watched the Sonics and it still stings that we lost the the Sonics four years ago. And seeing how great they are doing right now and not having to go through the struggles that we went through watching all the Sonics, and then they are handed a team that is doing this awesome it’s ridiculous,” Rex says.
But what if you’re like Dori, a fellow lifelong Sonics fan who likes Thunder star Kevin Durant and can’t stand Miami Heat leader LeBron James. Can he get an exemption from the ban?
“Maybe I can give you a haircut outside,” Rex laughs. He admits he likes Durant as well (a former first round draft pick of the Sonics), but he just can’t side with the team that took his heart to Oklahoma.
“I do not want to see Clay Bennett hold up that trophy whatsoever,” Rex says.
