No surprise: Seattle squashes something fun

Naysayers booed and hissed as the Seattle Parks Department announced at a meeting Tuesday night it had chalk-lined out a zip line in West Seattle's Lincoln Park. Read more.

Bird lovers say it'll mess with the wildlife, but Dori wonders how one wire line and a couple poles would hurt birds? Not any more than trees getting cut down for a parking lot or underbrush getting cleared for walking trails.

-Sigh- But Seattleites hate fun, so it's not really a surprise.

Your thoughts from Facebook:

Travis L. Eberle Only Seattle could take something that is fun and will generate revenue, and because of loudmouthed malcontents, decide to not do it.

Corey David Hurd If someone is upset over a zip line would ruin natural forest what about hiking trails?!? Hiking trails ruin forests too! They are getting upset over something really stupid!

Robin Alberg So sad.... I would have loved a zip line course in West Seattle! I don't see what is wrong with using public space to generate revenue for the PUBLIC?!?

Shannon Burnham Pinger This is good news, Lincoln Park does not need this intrusive ride in it's beautiful natural setting.
