About Bill Radke
Bill is co-host of Seattle's Morning news, 5-9, on 97.3 KIRO FM. Bill is well known in the Northwest as a journalist, author, comedian, and talk show host. Radke started his career at KIRO as an intern in 1983. He recently returned home from Los Angeles.

Making a move

You may have heard that Seattle's Morning News is doing a reboot. John Curley will be your morning host, bringing his vitality and intelligence to the mornings. I'm a huge Curley fan.

Linda Thomas will leave the show to become KIRO Radio's Senior Features Reporter and Digital Journalist. She'll continue her fantastic, award-winning News Chick blog and file original web reports on parenting, politics, technology and trends - whatever captures her limitless imagination. She is a jewel in every way.

I'll be moving to another local radio station where I intend to steal all the secrets to KIRO's success: deliver the news and connect the dots through the eyes of thinkers and talkers, from the meaningful to the offbeat, bringing you what's most interesting right now.

KIRO is a Northwest treasure and I'll treasure the friendships I've made here. Thank you for listening, emailing and posting here. Oh, and to my friend Tom Tangney: Tom, I want you to know that I'm about to sleep in for a month. Jealous much?

    I can't believe KIRO management is putting John Curley on the morning news. Curley is not smart, not informed, not talented, and -- ironically -- smug. Why is this happening? It makes no sense!

    I agree with CinnamonBuns. . .why is this happening and why John Curley. When he subbed before he did not handle well taking his turn talking. Loud and abrasive. Can't figure this one out.

    I am glad to actually find out what happened to the previous host. I hated it when new host just take over suddenly one day. Sorry to see you go. I find you much more enjoyable that Curly. (I'd love something else besides Curly's football story this morning) And you have class judging from this writing. Best wishes to you and your family.

    I think you knew that KIRO was rapidly finishing off what can only be described as a decade long train wreck. Once KIRO was the station that others tried to copy, now it is now just a cast of puppets and clowns. John Curley is the PERFECT fit for KIRO. He is a cartoon of himself. Golden smile, stupid eastside arrogance, and in desperate need of 1000 MG of Ridlin! I only hurt inside that Dave Ross is still the last remaining real person left at KIRO. But alas, he has even been marginalized. Go do what you have always been great at doing. Go to a REAL station, which talk about REAL issues and let us decide what to think about it. Go where people actually think. Not this lil rascals "hey let's put on a show" noise. One thing you have always done well was to talk through an issue without being judgmental, or pushy. Apparently those are not qualities KIRO admires. You were an onion in a fruit bowl there my friend. You were Shakespeare on Bevis and Butthead. It is a win for you. At least it got you out of LA!! Enjoy your time off with the kids and come back and do what you have always done best. Take it from someone who has done it….YES you can go back home! BEEP!

    Now, if only KIRO hadn't gone with Curly and with someone that could do a news program, not an opinion program. I can stomach Curley more than Radke, but this isn't fixing the problem. Remember, KIRO MORNING NEWS was the name of the program, not the Bill Radke show...nor should it be the John Curley Show. Please...give us news in the morning again...not opinion.

    I really enjoyed listening to you on the Morning Show...now I'm stuck with Curley :( I didn't listen to him at night because he was so annoying...now I'll either have to just suck it up and deal with it or find another station in the morning...and I don't want to do either. Good luck & hopefully I'll find you again :)

    I'll miss Bill and Linda in the morning. I didn't listen every single workday but liked the more "in depth" look at some of the current events. Now I have to get used to a new format on KIRO mornings. Best wishes, Bill!
