TBTL WITH LUKE BURBANK

A Whalebone of a Time

The Mummy is back with tales of booze smuggling and Grateful Dead-enjoying. I’m not sure which is worse. While I can’t blame a bartender for getting mad at Mummers for bringing in his own liquor, I can attest to Sun Liquor’s mean vibe. I was once at the newer Sun Liquor shortly after it opened and the artisanal cocktails were delicious. The bartender was profanely berating the young woman he was training right in front of us the whole time though. No amount of juniper-infused bitters and muddled mint can make up for that.

New York Times columnist David Carr died on Thursday night. The guys did a great job eulogizing him and there's little praise I could add.

Touched “a” Verve… or “The” Verve?

On the morning of January 23rd, 2006 my phone rang while I was eating breakfast. I had a sore throat so my "hello" was weak and hoarse.
