TBTL WITH LUKE BURBANK

Where is Harry Truman?

By the time the podcast went up late last night, I was out seeing This Is The End, which I thoroughly enjoyed. But it meant I didn’t get a chance to write about yesterday’s episode. So to catch up, Simon Rich is embarrassing us all by being a huge comedy success before the age of thirty and the two new Song of the Summer nominees we heard were “Recover” by CHVRCHES and “We The Common” by Thao & The Get Down Stay Down.

Today on the show we get to hear a great conversation Luke had with Bob’s Burgers star Kristen Schaal and writer Scott Jacobson as part of Livewire. Or as I see it, we got more of Livewire’s sloppy seconds. It was a hilarious conversation though, so I’ll let it slide. All that, plus “This Week In Drinking” with Andrew Walsh and Sean DeTore. Sean is hosting a live The Mixtape at Barboza in Seattle with musical guests The Glass Notes and Natalie Quist on June 29th, so if you’re in the area definitely check that out.

Also, as discussed on the show, Scott Jacobson directed this ridiculous video for The National starring Kristen Schaal. Enjoy.

New York Times columnist David Carr died on Thursday night. The guys did a great job eulogizing him and there's little praise I could add.

Harper “Buddy” Lee: You Can’t Bust Her!

I spent a blog "week off" mourning the Sea-Yuks loss but I was still listening to the show. There are so many issues it feels like time for my first USA Today/Larry King style post.

Touched “a” Verve… or “The” Verve?

On the morning of January 23rd, 2006 my phone rang while I was eating breakfast. I had a sore throat so my "hello" was weak and hoarse.
