What Should One Hoard? Podcasts!

Alex Blumberg, formerly of Planet Money and This American Life is going all-in on podcasting. He’s launching a podcast network he hopes will prove that the medium is now viable as a business. Whether or not I’m interested in any particular show on that network I’ll download the whole catalog to do my small part to promote a bright future for podcasting.
If you’re reading this you’re into podcasting, maybe in too deep. So you know that it’s SO much more satisfying than terrestrial radio. But because people are slow to change lifelong habits like radio, podcasting boasts very few large scale commercial success stories. Let’s be honest, Tens. When we meet someone and find out they’ve not into any podcasts we’re poised to check the Dummy box, right?
The health of the business at the A-lister level will be the first legitimate “leading economic indicator” for all podcasting. A rising Blumberg tide floats all Burbank boats. And speaking of floating, the job of blogger has washed up on my shore. Toni has stepped aside to pursue her dreams of making money on her writing. Something that is never going to happen here. Ever. Trust me, I asked about it.
I have to get back to doing research. I’m doing an interview today w/Tom Schnabel of Rhythm Planet. Because when you think rhythm you think Schnabel. But you have my promise, Tens, that I will keep blogging. But braver.
