TBTL WITH LUKE BURBANK

Papa Don’t Snitch

Luke’s answer to the “Other People’s Problems” segment Wednesday troubled me. The woman wanted to know what she could do to liven up conversations with her husband’s friend’s wives. Luke’s advice was to start delving into their sex lives, basically straight from zero to key party in record time. This signals a big turnaround from the Luke who refused to let his neighbor spend the night with Carey in exchange for beach access. But the biggest sin in Luke’s advice was that it felt like a mumblecore plot.

You guys had your fun with Bono. You sucked his luggage out of a plane, then succeeded in nearly getting him killed in a bike wreck. And lately you’ve been talking a lot of mess about AC/DC. Well here’s my OPP advice for you. Never confront a band that travels with alcohol and cannons.

Papa John Schnatter is a smart, talented businessman. He works in the test kitchen and out in the restaurants frequently, leading to Andrew’s swooning over Papa’s meaty forearms. I had a lot of interaction with John, and while curt he was always kind to me, even taking me on speaking tours. That said I don’t think anyone has the courage or the juice to tell him to get out of his commercials. I never did. And I hate his politics.

My “government” is Mike Frizzell. Friend me on Facebook and never again know peace from game requests. Follow me @drewmcfrizz on Twitter for gems like this. Check out Takedown Podcast‘s FB page where Bill Belichick is tongue kissing his daughter.

Just One More Thing

New York Times columnist David Carr died on Thursday night. The guys did a great job eulogizing him and there's little praise I could add.

Harper “Buddy” Lee: You Can’t Bust Her!

I spent a blog "week off" mourning the Sea-Yuks loss but I was still listening to the show. There are so many issues it feels like time for my first USA Today/Larry King style post.

Touched “a” Verve… or “The” Verve?

On the morning of January 23rd, 2006 my phone rang while I was eating breakfast. I had a sore throat so my "hello" was weak and hoarse.
