Forever Young

Back by popular request: TBTL Guide to a snow day

Here's the basic idea...you're stuck at home, it's too cold and miserable to attempt to go outside...so embrace it. You're taking a snow day.

jen

Step #1: If you're a good little ten, you have champagne on hand, so pop the cork.

Step #2: Watch an old movie. (I recommend "The Philadelphia Story", but sometimes I rotate in "Boys Town", "Roman Holiday" or "The Thin Man")

other

Step #3: Eat whatever is in your house. This is the fun creative part. (I once folded chocolate chips into slices of Wonder bread and called it "Ballard croissant"). You'll be amazed at the meal you create using the last 4 kalamata olives, tomato paste, a little cream and an egg...

Step #4: Put on a soft, boozy album and curl up for an afternoon nap

Step #5: Go outside and walk around your block for 10 minutes, marveling at the snow and icicles.

Step #6: Retreat inside. Proud of the exercise you've done, make a hot toddy (I like a little hot cocoa with Baileys) and start plowing through your DVR.

Step #7: Fall asleep without shame or remorse. It was a good day.

I like a little Jameson and triple sec in my Earl Grey. I liked how this was originaly posted on Jan 27th of last year. I had forgotten it even snowed last year. How short our memories are.

In Shelton, had at least 12 inches of snow, now raining sleet. Have had 2 snow days from work, hoping to go back Friday. Hubby & I have power, so warm & cozy. Lost cable about an hour ago, so we made margaritas, chips in oven with cheese, baked perfectly & now watching original Harry Potter on DVD!

    you've summed up my week...
But, since I have kids, there has also been some Monopoly, lots of Adventure Time and Regular Show and baked goods. Tonight, I will uncork the CSM.

How I spent my days snow bound...
Jen,you're the sister I never had! Home is in rural Snohomish. 18 inches of snow since Monday. Snow bound with kids since then. The boys sled all day while I knit. Evenings spent hiking up to neighbors house where sledding is the best. Prosecco (because I'm a good little ten) and Campari with neighbor-ladies. Great memories have been made this week.
