Back by popular request: TBTL Guide to a snow dayHere's the basic idea...you're stuck at home, it's too cold and miserable to attempt to go outside...so embrace it. You're taking a snow day.
Step #1: If you're a good little ten, you have champagne on hand, so pop the cork. Step #2: Watch an old movie. (I recommend "The Philadelphia Story", but sometimes I rotate in "Boys Town", "Roman Holiday" or "The Thin Man")
Step #3: Eat whatever is in your house. This is the fun creative part. (I once folded chocolate chips into slices of Wonder bread and called it "Ballard croissant"). You'll be amazed at the meal you create using the last 4 kalamata olives, tomato paste, a little cream and an egg... Step #4: Put on a soft, boozy album and curl up for an afternoon nap Step #5: Go outside and walk around your block for 10 minutes, marveling at the snow and icicles. Step #6: Retreat inside. Proud of the exercise you've done, make a hot toddy (I like a little hot cocoa with Baileys) and start plowing through your DVR. Step #7: Fall asleep without shame or remorse. It was a good day. - Jen Originally posted Thursday, January 27, 2011
