Song Of The Summer Update: Polish Invasion?

SOTSpic

Things are hopping over at Song Of The Summer Central. At last count, we’ve received just under a gazillion submissions, and I’ve fallen in love with almost all of them (yes, even yours, Jeff.)

If you think any of the songs we’ve discussed will be (or should be) the Song Of The Summer, hit us up at tbtlmusic[at]gmail[dot]com . If you’d like to submit a new song, send us a youtube link or (best yet!) attach an MP3. I promise we'll use it responsibly.

Here are some of the songs we’ve talked about on the show lately. Am I the only one ready for The Polish Invasion?

-Andrew

Okay, we didn't actually talk about this next one on the show, and -- truth be told, I don't know about the song's SOTS potential. But damn it, this video is good. Thanks for sending it, Linda.

    But is there still an Amazon link we can use when we buy stuff from there to add to tbtl's coffers?

    Really outstanding
    The SOTS submissions this year are really very good. I like the variety a great deal and the choice is gonna be difficult. Right now that Dokad has bent my ear. I love it - It will give me an excuse to learn polish so I can sing along.Plus its catchy as hell. Plus then I can feel like Albert Brooks in Broadcast News when he's drunk and singing along to a record in Portugese or something...

    I think I submitted it before listening to the episode where it was suggested, sorry for the repetition, Andrew. If you're looking for a little C89.5 style remix, I've been bumping this in my office the past few days: http://soundcloud.com/coyotekisses/carly-rae-jepsen-call-me-maybe

    Drummer = Polish Luke
    Totally! I think the drummer might be Luke's alter ego.

    Properly translated lyrics to Dokąd
    Dokąd - Where to Where do we go today I’ll go left, you go right, none of us goes straight on Leave the door ajar Who knows if it’s really the end We’re both twenty Have no money, few clothes and experiences Big common little things Please, let’s not split up for good… I still remember the vacations when You gave me powdered lemonade on your finger in the dovecote Forest dreams before dinner, we fought Nazis with our sticks Suntanned with the dust of summer, we shot soap bubbles at flies Drinking wine in the orchard, the grandfather’s belt, that’s not… That’s not rubbish, that’s not rubbish, my love This bound us forever That’s not rubbish, my love I keep hiding my child From the guy in a suit and tie Yours is constantly tempted by snake With an empty, ripe apple with seeds But we will not give in yet Come at two to the playground by the chestnut tree We will renew a hundred of vows, We will smoke a pipe with the Indians, because… I still remember the vacations when You gave me powdered lemonade on your finger in the dovecote Forest dreams before dinner, we fought Nazis with our sticks Suntanned with the dust of summer, we shot soap bubbles at flies Drinking wine in the orchard, the grandfather’s belt, that’s not That’s not rubbish

    Luke mentioned that Jen is like Gandalf, giving Andrew a quick synopsis of the situation then taking off. Love that. Also, does this mean that the Fellowship of the Tens will reunite while hanging with some bigass talking, walking trees?

    Andrew: thanks for linking to Jeff's video
    Fadades is my absolute favorite band. Huge hooks, innovative chord progressions, thoughtful lyrics. Fadades has it all. Great call, Andrew/Jeff. SOTS indeed.

    How will the choosing work? Will "voting" just be done by sending nominating emails, or will there eventually be some sort of poll? I'm loving seeing some of my favorite songs of the moment pop up here (Alabama Shakes' Hold On), and learning about new songs (Lumineers).
