California-to-Washington among most popular moves

Homeowners are moving again and Californians are heading this way.

The California-to-Washington move was one of the most common in the country in 2011, according to new data released by the United States Census Bureau.

After hitting a record low of 11.6 percent last year, the national home mover rate increased to 12 percent in 2012, the Bureau reported.
Other common state-to-state moves in 2011:

  • New York to Florida
  • California to Texas
  • California to Arizona
  • Florida to Georgia
  • New Jersey to New Yor
  • New York to New Jersey
  • California to Nevada
  • Georgia to Florida
  • Texas to California

Many Americans who do move aren't going too far. About 40 percent of the 11.8 million people who moved to another county, only moved less than 50 miles away, according to the Census data.

"The overall mover rate for the nation has increased since a record low," said Alison Fields, chief of the Census Bureau's Journey-to-Work and Migration Statistics Branch. "However, compared to previous years, mobility is still low for even our most mobile age group (18 to 29 year olds)."

    Funny
California to Washington, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas 4 of the top moves of people moving. What does that tell you? It tells me that they screwed up California so bad they had to leave it. I wouldn't allow them to vote in their new state for 20 years so they don't screw up their new state with their stupid ideas from California!!

    dear californians
Washington is a really ugly state. Theres nothing to do here at all. We don't have beautiful mountains and beaches. We will never have cute little towns like Leavenworth or Forks. All of our rivers are dirty and dont have any fish. Please don't move here. California is so much better. You should just stay therr. Wink wink.

Ya we can tell, as calif. goes down the hole
So does city of seattle, grab another bowl, and smoke it right down town. Your mayor is right with ya. He is busy right now working on his retirement plans with the new seawall contractors down town.

    Unfunded Pension Immigrants
The only way to stop this next wave from happening is for Washington to tax retirement & pensions more heavily like Oregon does. We don't even ask them to get out to pump gas on their way up! If only there could be state laws requiring up to five years permanent residence before voting on State ballots! (would be waived upon purchase of season tickets to Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, Sonics :-)
