New video to assist state's homeowners facing foreclosure

A new video that explains consumers' rights and options under the Foreclosure Fairness Act is now available on an informational website made possible by the Washington Association of Realtors (WAR).
The video, which lays out the notifications, timelines, and processes of default and foreclosure, was designed to assist if homeowners who in trouble with their mortgage on the home they occupy.
Many borrowers have the right to meet with their lender and demand mediation to attempt a modification of their loan terms.
"This new tool provides comprehensive information about foreclosure fairness, so if there is an opportunity for an owner to keep their home they will have the clear, specific direction they need," said Rob McKenna, Washington State attorney general.
Approximately 10,000 Washington state homes were in foreclosure in the first half of 2011 and another 76,400 homeowners are seriously delinquent on their mortgages, according to WAR.
