Seattle ranked No.6 in nation's fastest-selling homes

The average Seattle-area home spent 45 days on the market compared to national average of 84, according to June housing data from Realtor.com.

The average number of days homes are spending on the market has dropped by nearly 10 percent nationwide in the last year.

Many of the nation's fastest selling housing markets also are having some of the largest increases in median home prices compared to a year ago.

Here are seven metro areas that saw homes on the market for the fewest number of days in June, according to Realtor.com data:

1. Oakland, Calif.
Median days on the market: 24

2. Denver
Median days on the market: 33

3. Anchorage, Alaska
Median days on the market: 43

4. Fresno, Calif.
Median days on the market: 43

5.Bakersfield, Calif.
Median days on the market: 44

6. Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, Wash.
Median days on the market: 45

7. San Francisco, Calif.
Median days on the market: 45

    i walk my neighborhood everyday and there are vacant empty houses for sale for over a year.... there are also occupied houses that have been for sale for over a year....what is this article talking about? Anybody who's not a sucker can SEE what is really going on.

    In my area over by Covington. Homes are selling within 2-4 weeks. The inventory is slim. Glad we bought our new place last year. Great time for us to sell.
