I was so mad I almost did a spit take with my coffee on my computer when I read this story coming out of Auburn.
Here’s how the story starts out in the SeattlePI:
“An Auburn couple accused of forcing their 6-year-old son to live on hot dog and vegetable oil “shakes” – when he was fed at all – now faces felony charges.”
The story talks about the allegations against Christopher Sefton and his wife, Lori Lloyd. It says that they imagined discipline problems with their 6-year-old, so in order to keep him in line, the dad, Christopher, is accused of beating his son. The couple is also accused of refusing him food. When they did feed him, they allegedly fed him shakes made of bread, carrots, water, a hot dog, and vegetable oil.
The reason the school was suspicious, according to the SeattlePI, is because he would steal food from other kids, he was tall for his age but super skinny, and he was reportedly digging through the garbage to pull out food always saying ‘I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I’m hungry.’ Then when he got a black eye, the thing was elevated.
This kid was, in my mind, tortured.
I am so riled up about this, and I don’t want to overstep, but if there is a death penalty crime, this, to me, would rise to the level to consider the death penalty.
When you systematically abuse a 4, 5, or 6-year-old child, to me this goes way beyond.
I look at Don’s little boy who is 4 years old. When I look at that, the type of person that could injure or abuse a child of that age to me deserves the worst penalty we can give out. What kind of human being are you to beat a 5-year-old?
I don’t think there’s a punishment severe enough for this couple if they’re guilty of what they’re accused of.
