A Clash of Titans

On Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden will meet with an NRA representative, which ought to be a lively session. But will it change anything?

Sarah Brady's been a gun control crusader for 28 years; she thinks that after the Newtown massacre the idea of bringing bring back a ban on military style weapons may have reached critical mass.

"No law is going to be perfect, but if they do help, if they save any lives they're worth it," said Brady.

But the NRA could make the same argument for its idea of putting armed guards in schools - if it saves any lives, it's worth it. A gun is a tool. In the right hands, it's a good thing.

And we're back to the same familiar arguments. Is there anything both sides can agree on? How about this:

A rocket launcher, not just one, but two.

In Los Angeles, two rocket launchers turned up in the city's gun buyback program.

Thankfully, they had no rockets in them. But just the same, we'd probably agree that crosses the line. Or would we?

On Monday, pro-gun talk show host Alex Jones lectured CNN's Piers Morgan on why Americans have every right to own powerful weapons.

"The Second Amendment isn't there for duck hunting, it's there to protect us from tyrannical government and street thugs," Jones told Morgan.

And to protect us from being recolonized by Brits like Piers Morgan.

"Piers," said Jones, "don't try what your ancestors did before."

I didn't realize those were the stakes. If it's a matter of keeping Piers Morgan from taking Boston back, maybe we do need rocket launchers.

    They print thier debt to U.S citizens. Can't anybody see that!. Of course they want your guns because when you find out this dirty trick your going to be angery!. I think they kinda got that part figured out. So the red coats are comming agian. They plan to bankrupt and starve you just like last time agian. Untill we as a people get smart enough to get are own printing press that makes money with real checks and balances. The federal reserve is a private not goverment owned printing press of fake money satanic money. Just like hospitals are now privately owned Jails privately owned once you understand the money game. You will be alot smarter about who you vote for. Start growing your own food now so you can afford it.

    I swear, sometimes I think you 're way out there, but the more I pay attention to what is really going on in this country, well, you're kinda starting to make sense.....conspiracy?     But with Dave you never know if he's trying to be humorous or is just dense. To call either Piers Morgan or Alex Jones titans of any sort is just too far fetched to be amusing. These 2 clowns are so ridiculous it's shocking they aren't part of the Obama admin's czarist program.

    who want to dis-arm to law abiding people so more people can be victims of unlawful people. in their world they think criminals are going to start obeying the law and we will be safer. in reality the criminals feel safer to committ more crimes with weapons they will not turn in and us who are forced to turn in weapons will have nothing to defend ourselves. statistics show that people who have weapons to protect themselves are less likely to be victims and the criminals who attack them are more likely to be stopped. period. police are not there when it happens so they cannot protect you from criminals and when courts keep putting criminals back on the street to kill again, just like the killer of tuba man, then we all become double victims thanks to mentally ill anti gun people like ross and burbank.

    To be honest, if it's criminals killed in the act of invading someone's home I'm not all that against a higher death rate when it's the bad guys that are doing the dying. The alternative is the bad guys come in, rape, rob, possibly murder and leave. Remember that case where the 2 guys broke in, tied up a mother and 2 daughters, rapped them and burned them to death? I'd rather the perps would have been shot to death and the 3 women still alive. Your mileage may vary.

    We are not the ones attempting to restrict and abolish our rights to keep and bear arms. It is YOUR Dear Leader and the party of Obama that you mindless left wing morons gave 4 more years to last November that is doing all of this! We Americans knew all along that your Dear Leader wanted to take our guns from us and they were hoping for something like this to come along and this filthy perverted regime of yours finally got it's wish rather than try to realistically stop it.

    President Romney would not have gone anywhere near where your Dear Leader is heading with this. He, with the help of us Americans, would have worked to find a solution to this that would have measurable results. Not simply fulfill a decades long Liberal dream of attempting to abolish the Second amendment.

    Messed up one, there is no amendment in our Constitution guaranteeing our right to keep and operate a car(S). There is an amendment that does guarantee our right to keep and bear arms.
