TCTI: Too Crazy Too Ignore
Dave Ross

Just calmly getting ready

You might think the gun community is, dare I say, up in arms about a possible assault weapons ban, but cruising the Internet, they seem to be taking it calmly and just preparing for it.

"In today's video, we thought that we would explore the idea - if you had to buy five guns to prepare for a potential assault weapons ban," says a YouTube published gun expert.

And they already know which guns will be targeted first: the AR-15s.

"This is going to be the number one gun that they'll be coming for because it looks evil."

But no need to panic, because you can just buy the core part of the gun, the lower receiver, as it's called, which is maybe $150, as many as you want, and and just add the other parts later.

"Now see, this is what is considered the gun, this lower receiver. Now under an assault weapons ban if you've got 10 of these laying around all you have to do is buy the uppers and everything else is the same because that receiver was grandfathered in, in such case because it was purchased before the assault weapons ban.

And you definitely want to stock up on the high capacity magazines.

"These magazines, they sell for like $15, when the ban comes back you can sell them for a hundred bucks a piece. You need to stock up - not only on guns - but stock up on the accessories as well."

I have to say, they don't sound a bit worried. So there you have it - whether there's an assault weapons ban or not, it sounds like there are still ways to maintain an arsenal - and even make a little extra money.

The extreme on both sides of this issue are way off
I consider myself an independent/middle of the road voter. I vote for democrats and republicans. I also own firearms. I wouldn't consider disarming any more than I would consider not having a social safety net. The extremists on the left would take every gun away from every law abiding citizen. That's just not going to happen, so it just makes for interesting rhetoric. The extremists on the right would have absolutely no restrictions on any firearms -- which makes no sense either. No one in their right mind wants to kill kids or cops. How can anyone even say something that stupid? And, no one should be able to purchase an "assault rifle" without a background check either. Let's close the loopholes, demand that the laws on the books are enforced, pass stricter laws against gun crime and REALLY do something about this! The frustrating thing for me is that the government appears to be missing the point and using this as a PR moment. Focus on the mentally ill getting guns, focus on gun crime, focus on gang activity and finally focus this energy on a good values system and we MIGHT do something about this issue.

I think most people would agree with your post. It's nice to hear a logical argument. I think there are far more people on both sides of the political parties that have common agreements on tighter gun control restrictions. I don't hear very many from the left saying "ban all guns." I do hear a lot from the NRA and The RWNJ on here saying that any sort of restriction will lead to gun confiscation and a ban on all guns. Pure rhetoric. I haven't seen one post from any of the liberals on here calling for a ban on all guns. Maybe I missed it.

You might want to check the story ...
...by Andrew Walsh on this site. Kenneth Dodge, director of child and family policy at Duke University calls for just that. "Isn't it more straightforward to just get rid of the guns" Just one example, but have no doubt...that is exactly what the progressive movement what have us do.

A journey of 1000 miles begins with a first step. I think the bigger question is do people trust the gubmint. I think it is clear many do not.

I can't disagree with you on that one. I will say this though, I don't believe for a minute that they are going to confiscate and abolish guns. There are too many out in circulation. It's a battle they know they couldn't win and I don't think they have any interest in going that far.

    I hope u r right....
...but the way I see this going is first the so called assault weapon ban....but that won't stop the next whack job from another Sandy Hook. When that happens, they'll go after what ever semi auto was used....then when the shootings continue... People will scream to abolish six shooters. It's a slippery slope once the path is chosen.
