Well it turns out the release of that snapshot of the President skeet shooting at Camp David still has not satisfied the Skeeters - and some websites are even implying the picture is a fake because other shots of the president that same day show him wearing different clothes.

What he needs to do is what CNN's Piers Morgan did. Piers went down to a Texas gun range, picked up an AR-15 and after about a sixty-second lesson from an instructor he was firing at a rate of about 200 rounds a minute.

That's a legal weapon you could buy this afternoon at Walmart. And with the number of home owners buying them now, I have to think that crime will disappear probably by this weekend. I know criminals are stupid, but how profoundly stupid would you have to be to go up against a homeowner with one of these?

Although as his instructor explained, it's not just about protection from criminals.

"The military and the United Nations are going to come in and take our guns," said the instructor.

"Do you think the American military would attack its own people?" asked Piers.

"If it's forced to - I don't know. I hope not. I hope that would not happen, but I would think at least 40 or 50 percent would," the instructor replied.

Americans need weapons powerful enough to kill U.S. soldiers if need be.

Which is why the skeet picture has done nothing for the President's gun cred. Skeet shooting is about bird hunting. To get REAL gun cred, the President would have to squeeze off 200-round bursts from his AR-15 and then explain he's just getting prepared in case the Secret Service turns on him.

    Awfully long barrels for skeet and what is with the smoke? Visible smoke only happens when firing "blank, low/no recoil shells with slow burn black powder propellant. Real shotgun ammunition uses "smokeless" powder also there is no visible "recoil". I have been a shotgun hunter for 50 years and have never seen this effect from "real" ammo. Barry also is holding that firearm like he just picked it up for the first time and with no instruction on how to properly "shoulder" the weapon.

    So lets spitball this a little. 1,400,000 or so U.S. active military. 470,000 National guard. 750,000 or so sworn law enforcement. Let's assume the gun instructor is correct, and 50% of our armed forces and law enforcement are willing to violate their oaths. First, they would have to abandon all overseas missions and bases, and all naval and coast guard ships would have to return to port. 50% of this total is 1,310,000 individuals. The latest guess is there are around 52 million households with guns. Since most households with guns have more than 1, we could safely assume we could arm at least half again as many individuals, which puts us at around 70 million armed to resist this takeover. So the only way the fascist jackbooted socialist military led be those liberals on the joint chiefs of staff could overwhelm the gun owners is by the use of their superior weaponry. So why aren't gun owners lobbying for second amendment rights to have tanks, missiles and rocket launchers? If the purpose of the second amendment is to protect us from our government, we should be allowed equal firepower. It's time to get rid of that wimp Wayne La Pierre and replace him with someone who will fight for the rights to own real weapons, not just a few ARs.

    It is truly amazing how much one person's opinion (in this case Dave) can raise soooo much hate and anger from the right wing side. Particularly when the opinion is merely opinion and not a call to demand a specific action (in this case, Dave's never demanded a ban on ANY gun - he's merely discussed the issue and mentioned his personal opinion). This is reminicent of the loud mouth extremists like Ted Nugent, the pro-gun dude who went nuclear on Piers Morgan and so on - big mouthed loud screaming trying to drown out any reasonable discussion of what to do to try and stop the significant issue of violence commited by people with guns. We will NEVER have a rational discussion with the screaming from the 'h-e-ll no' crowd. I'm not for banning any specific gun, nor do I think most gun control people are (including Dave) unless doing so is the only way to stop the unnecessary deaths that are occuring - the deaths which violate the victims Constitutional right to continue living. We can't find out IF any particular path is the right one until the braying idiots on EITHER side shut up long enough to allow that rational discussion.

    either. He's been twisting this skeet shooting story in such a way as to mock and ridicule gun rights advocates. Calling people who rightly gufaw at the president's laughable claim that he shoots skeets all the time at Camp David. The picture backs up the skepticism, rather than refuting it. Dave's not concerned about the president's "gun cred" at all and he alludes quite strongly to his disdain for AR-15s. I have no doubt that he would be all for a ban on those and he'd probably go farther. But rather than engage in a rational discussion about his views vis-a-vis gun bans and actually make an argument, he'd rather demonize and belittle his foes. That's not very honest if you ask me and you have to expect that people are going to react and respond strongly when that's your go-to tactic.
