A lie for a lie!

Members of Congress have a new idea for ending the uncertainty stirred up by Obamacare: enact his promise into law.
“The president said, over and over, if you have insurance, and you like the insurance you have, you can keep it. That’s the single focus of my bill.” That’s not a Republican, that’s Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.
“This is not to undermine the Affordable Care Act, it’s to strengthen it and to keep our promise,” she said.
But now let me get this straight. The problem with the president’s “If you like it, you can keep it promise” was that he was promising the impossible and knew it.
That’s why he’s being called a liar by all the fact checkers because he knew that when you provide true comprehensive health care to everyone, premiums will have to go up for some people. The people who are seeing their premiums go up the most are the people whose insurance policies were a joke. The reason they liked them was that they never had to use them for a serious illness.
But now here comes Congress with a bi-partisan bill that will now fix a lie by legislating the very same lie!
Of course, Congress is full of smart people with powers far beyond those of mortal men. But if it’s true that passing a bill can actually turn back the clock, then please, don’t just let us keep our old insurance.
For example, I have a bill that I call the “If you like your health care you can keep it AND if you liked your old salary before the recession, you can keep that, too” act.
I’ll bet that would be even more popular!
