The annual news stories about the War on Christmas are presumably intended to protect the true meaning of Christmas. However, if you look online, the debate about Christmas is getting bigger than Christmas itself.
For example. If you Google “Peace on Earth” you get 7.9 million results.
But if you Google “War on Christmas” you get 104,000,000 results.
There are now War on Christmas Carols.
“If you don’t see Merry Christmas in the window, no you don’t go in that store,” sings one song.
Teaching children the joy of boycotting.
Then there are songs that ridicule the War on of Christmas.
“It’s War on Christmas darling,” sings one song.
And of course there was Toby Keith’s vision of a heavily armed Santa who fights back.
“Well there’s a War on Christmas that’s under attack. Hey this year old Saint Nicholas is taking it back. He’s firing guns from his reindeer, dropping bombs from his sled. This year if you were naughty, you’re as good as dead,” says the song.
This year if you’re naughty you’re as good as dead. That’s why they call it tough love.
But there’s one group that puts the War on Christmas in perspective. I give you The Mockers who preach that there really is no reason to go to war over this.
“Because there’s no War on Christmas when Christmas is in your heart,” they sing.
Amen.
