Trump and Sanders take their presidential campaigns down south

The polls just keep getting better for Trump, although you wouldn’t know it after hearing him speak in Dallas last night. He complained the media is disrespecting him by paying more attention to his rivals.
“Here’s the headline: ‘Carson surging,'” Trump said. “I said, ‘What about me? Where’s my name?'”
I think the answer to that is…everywhere.
And while Trump was basking in glory in Dallas, Bernie Sanders went to a place most Democrats fear to tread — Liberty University, the conservative Christian school founded by Jerry Falwell. University President Jerry Falwell Jr. gave Sanders a football jersey.
“I think in the future he’s going to be a fan of the Liberty Flames,” Falwell said.
And Sanders got a polite applause when he quoted the Bible to make the moral case for ending income inequality.
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,” Sanders quoted.
But the biggest applause line wasn’t for him — it was for a question from the moderator, who said: “A majority would agree with you, but would also go further and say that children in the womb need our protection even more.
Somewhat awkward — but points for having the guts to go there.
By the way, in case you’re wondering, Trump has also spoken at Liberty University. It was back in 2012, but he offered a little different version of the Biblical Golden Rule.
“Don’t let people take advantage, get even,” Trump said.
That’s the version from the Old Testament, I believe.
