Yesterday, all afternoon, CNN was teasing a major speech by Donald Trump in Los Angeles aboard the retired battleship USS Iowa.

“We’ve been told he will speak in detail about the kind of foreign and military policy he would pursue as president,” CNN’s Anderson Cooper said in the lead up to Trump’s speech. “If he does go into great detail, it will be the first time.”

Now that I wanted to hear, so I listened to two hours of speculation and analysis until finally his speech began.

And then, there he was on the deck of the battleship USS Iowa, saying that he loves veterans, that he does not love illegal immigrants, and that he will make our military great again. And then this happened…

“We’ve been told there would be some specifics tonight on foreign policy. We haven’t heard them so far. We’re going to take a short break,” Cooper broke in.

CNN got bored! Somebody in the control room made the decision that it would be better to go to a commercial than to carry Trump’s speech.

But even more shocking &#8212 it appears Trump himself got bored. After only 15 minutes, he was done.

We learned nothing new about his plan to defeat ISIS, nothing new about a national security strategy…unless you count his remark about the ship he was standing on.

“They don’t build ships like this anymore, folks, we don’t do them this way anymore. I actually said, ‘what about recommissioning?’ Look at this thing!” Trump said.

He was probably joking. Although, I’m not sure how you can tell anymore.

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?

The rent control bill died in the Washington State Legislature this week, even though Democrats control both houses.
