President Obama has revealed that his favorite song of 2015 is Kendrick Lamar’s “How much a dollar costs.”
I know. Who cares what the president’s favorite song is?
The song is about Lamar filling up his car at a gas station in South Africa when a homeless man approaches him and asks for a dollar.

“Listen to me, I want a single bill from you, nothin’ less nothin’ more. I told him I ain’t have it and close my door…”
Well, the guy just stares at him because he knows Lamar is filthy rich. And he keeps staring at him and it’s making Lamar angry. So he starts up the car, but he can’t bring himself to leave.
“I never understood someone beggin’ for goods, askin’ for handouts, takin’ it if they could … starin’ at me for the longest time until he finally asked, Have you ever opened up Exodus 14.”
The homeless man tells Lamar to open the Bible to the story of the parting of the Red Sea, when God worked through Moses, a humble man, to save Israel. But Lamar hangs onto his money.
“I looked at him and said every nickel is mine to keep.”
At which point the beggar informs him who he is, and reveals how much it costs to hold on to his dollar.
“I’ll tell you how much a dollar costs…”
“The price of having a spot in Heaven. Embrace your loss, I am God.”
He realizes he just stiffed God.
That is a pretty deep favorite song, especially compared to Michelle’s, which is “Uptown Funk.”
