Milton Police say a man wanted in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Wendi Traynor turned himself in Saturday night.

Joshua Kioni Ellis became a person of interest after Traynor was found dead Friday in her apartment, according to police.

Sgt. Nils Luckman with the Milton Police Department says officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Queens Way for a wellness check on the victim at her apartment.

The woman’s body was discovered by a family member who called 911.

“A family member went to check in on the victim,” Luckman said. “We’re not sure of the time frame that the victim was deceased.”

Police say that they believe the homicide followed a domestic dispute.

“We know it’s a domestic-violence homicide,” Luckman said. “It looks like it was some kind of relationship, but I would be speculating on exactly what.”

KIRO 7 spoke to neighbor Terri Ward, who believes she met Ellis a couple of weeks ago. Ellis and Traynor were moving into the Surprise Lake Village Apartments where their first floor units share a wall.

“I spoke to him for just a minute and asked him if he was my new neighbor,” Ward told KIRO 7’s Deborah Horne. “And they said yes. Seemed very nice and that was it.”

Ward says she had no reason to be suspicious on Friday either.

“I didn’t hear anything at all,” she said. “So didn’t hear any discharge or anything else.”
