Margaret Larson hosts new local show Staff

A new local magazine-style show debuts Monday.

Margaret Larson is hosting "New Day Northwest," which she describes as a show focused on "newsmakers, lifestyle, food, fitness and wellness, books, music, parenting, and much more."

Larson is no stranger to television with a long past at KIRO-TV and KING-TV. She has been out of the limelight for about seven years. "I never thought I'd go back into television at this age on high definition. I do believe if the audience squints, everything will be okay."

Larson wasn't on a vacation. "I've been working for international charities based in the Northwest traveling around Africa, Latin America, South Asia, making videos and doing communications consulting on issues that I really carry about."

"New Day Northwest" will be one of few magazine-style shows airing in the greater Seattle area. KOMO-TV's "Northwest Afternoon" closed up shop nearly two years ago after a 24 year run.

"We've got to find new economic models to develop programming or local programming will die. It's very important to have that dialogue and outlet, so I want to make this a big success."

"New Day Northwest" airs on KING-TV daily at 11am. The Ellen DeGeneres Show has moved to 3pm.
