Lineup changes at KIRO Radio

John Curley is no longer hosting Seattle's Morning News. He's still in the KIRO Radio family and we're working with him to find the best possible platform for his talent. The change was made, because KIRO Radio has been hearing from a LOT of you that you want straight-forward news, traffic and weather first thing in the morning - saving the talk shows for later in the day. We heard that message loud and clear. So, effective today we've made some adjustments to our lineup and we're doubling up on news in the morning with more news each hour delivered by two of the most respected news voices in the Northwest: Dave Ross and Linda Thomas.

KIRO RADIO LINEUP
4a-5a The Wall Street Journal
5a-9a Seattle's Morning News with Dave Ross & Linda Thomas (featuring all of the day's top stories, with traffic & weather together every 10 minutes on the 7s).
9a-10a Ross & Burbank
10a-Noon The Luke Burbank Show (with contributors including Tom Tangney and others.)
Noon-3p The Dori Monson Show
3p-7p The Ron & Don Show
7p-10p The Andrew Walsh Show
10p-4a Coast to Coast with George Noory

    I wake up too late to catch most of his show. I hope he gets a slot that is more accessible. Maybe with Dave starting earlier the while day can be slid back a little and JC could do late afternoon. It would also be fun to listen to him sit in with Dori :-)

    The only reason I listened in the morning, was because John Curley made me laugh. He put me in a good mood for my work day. If this is really the change, I will not be listening to your station in the mornings anymore.

    I loved JC in the morning. UGH! now I will have to find something else to listen to!! The people complaining were upset because he is not a hard core lefty .... SUPER LAME!!!! AGAIN!!!!!

    I totally agree. Notice how many lefties KIRO has on as opposed to righties! Thank God, Dori Monson is still going strong. Can't wait to see where John goes!

    No, no, no!!! Put him back where he belongs! John was fine where he was, he did make me laugh. The Andrew Walsh chuckle is driving me to distraction. Luke alone? Nope, hating it. Please return Dave to his rightful position.

    He's the only reason I started listening to your station again. I was actually looking forward to returning to work today after a 2 week holiday, just so I could listen to him on the way in. What a letdown.

    I LOVED hearing John in the morning! Especially the "be kind, be strong, be funny when you can" end to his program every day. Don't let the whiners who complained about John win. There are a LOT of people like me out there who loved the positive way John would start our day. Dave and Luke at 9 are a great combination. Keep things the way they are (were).

    I too LOVE listening to John to put some humor, quick wit and fun in my dreaded morning commute! I caught him once in awhile in the evening and was very happy to be able to listen to him every morning. Back to dry and boring morning listening and back to switching the stations looking for something to listen to.

    Maybe Curley wants more time in the evenings with his kids. With every job comes sacrifices. Curley belongs back where he was, the evening show where he actually had fans that listened and followed him to mornings. I'm a big KIRO fan, have enjoyed TBTL, but the Andrew Walsh show is more boring than milk toast. He repeats everything that's already been hashed out all day and never adds anything new to the topic, other than throwing in that he's a liberal every other word. Good for KIRO Radio for wanting to promote from within, however Walsh just doesn't have it to capture an evening radio show. I'm not sure he could even capture a rush hour traffic captive audience. MyNorthwest says they've heard the cries from people wanting solid news in the mornings. The fact that the only people listening to KIRO in the evenings now are Walsh's bar friends isn't a sign of success.

    Dave is one of my favorite commentary talk show hosts...he should not be a news reader! I wake up to KIRO and would love to hear Tony Minor do the news with Linda. Dave and Luke have had a great show - I can't believe Dave isn't going to be there for all three hours. Put Andrew Walsh in reading news in Tony's place...I LOVED listening to JC on the evening show. Andrew Walsh has discouraged me from listening at night...I'm sorry, he IS more boring than listening to paint peal. Try again, KIRO. PLEASE!

    I was really happy to have JC in the mornings. I have really enjoyed listening to him since he came to KIRO and was able to hear him much more in the mornings than in the evenings when I have more family responsibilities.

    THANK YOU for taking John Curley off Morning Show. I agree - in the mornings, I want to know the headlines and get an idea of what I'd like to know more about throughout the day. John Curley is way more interested in telling his own stories (he even said last week, he's "a peddler of tales") and giving his thirty cents (way past two cents) on the current stories than to actually report the news. While I'm more a fan of Ursula Reutin than Linda Thomas (for the same reason - Linda's reporting is much too often along the lines of, "I'm a Mom, so I'm the only one who can really understand this story"), bringing Linda back to share the studio with Dave in the morning isn't a terrible thing. Good call, KIRO! Can't wait to hear more of Dave in the morning!

    You have got to be kidding with this change. Honestly after 15 minutes of KIRO news in the morning, I really don't need to keep listening. You just repeat every 15 minutes. Take Dori off and give John his spot if . Dori just repeats the first hour for the second and third anyway. What is with your station now? It's so redundant. John was the only interesting talent other than Ron and Don on your station. WAKE UP!
