Lineup changes at KIRO Radio

John Curley is no longer hosting Seattle's Morning News. He's still in the KIRO Radio family and we're working with him to find the best possible platform for his talent. The change was made, because KIRO Radio has been hearing from a LOT of you that you want straight-forward news, traffic and weather first thing in the morning - saving the talk shows for later in the day. We heard that message loud and clear. So, effective today we've made some adjustments to our lineup and we're doubling up on news in the morning with more news each hour delivered by two of the most respected news voices in the Northwest: Dave Ross and Linda Thomas.

KIRO RADIO LINEUP
4a-5a The Wall Street Journal
5a-9a Seattle's Morning News with Dave Ross & Linda Thomas (featuring all of the day's top stories, with traffic & weather together every 10 minutes on the 7s).
9a-10a Ross & Burbank
10a-Noon The Luke Burbank Show (with contributors including Tom Tangney and others.)
Noon-3p The Dori Monson Show
3p-7p The Ron & Don Show
7p-10p The Andrew Walsh Show
10p-4a Coast to Coast with George Noory

    This is a HUGE disappointment. The only reason I listened to KIRO in the morning was because of what John Curley added to the show. Hope you change your mind about this decision!

    I am so happy to hear that Dave Ross and Linda Thomas will be on, I switched to 1000 AM for my morning news after five years listening to KIRO. I was not happy with the morning show being the JOHN-RYE-CHARLIE Show, thank you so much for this change!!!!!! You've made my day!

    I too prefer John Curley to Ron and Don, he seems like more of a native than those guys. Rachel and Andrew were great when they were sitting in last week. Dave Ross IS KIRO radio! Dori is a lot better when not trying to piss people off regarding politics. He greatly improved when Jake came to the show.

    I did not enjoy JC in the morning...I switched back to KOMO for awhile because of it. SO glad Luke is getting two hours of his own, working with Tom Tangey! LOVE that combo!!

    Luke is so closed minded, I don't buy this excuse that John is gone because people want straight forward news. Luke does not even take opinions that differ from his own into consideration, instead ramming a dose of his extreme liberal ideals down your throat with each story. I will never listen to KIRO before noon unless this changes. If the goal is unbiased news reporting, Luke should be fired - not promoted! John is a HUGE asset to KIRO, personable and weighing both sides of any story. In my less-than-humble opinion this is the biggest mistake the station has made in the two years I have been listening. Just awful.

    Waking up to John Curly in the morning is like making the first pot of coffee. The aroma and anticipation of the first wake up jolt is felt throughout the house. I don't like the move at all but I'll Dave a chance. Once I start noticing politics, without the humor, coming through the radio then I'll switch to the 'other guys.' Good luck Dave and Linda.

    When Dave came back from his congressional run his ratings didn't. Pairing him with Luke, another ratings failure didn't work either. Two low rated hosts put together doesn't automatically mean a high rated show. Dave is the Chone Figgins on the Kiro radio team. They can't release him, so let him read the news. Love Dave, like Dave or not, the problem is he is BORING!!! JC is interesting, hope he takes over another slot.

    I enjoyed Johns humor and missed it as soon as I turned on the radio this morning. If John was "too much" in the morning, it seems now we have the exact opposite....not enough.

    This is my first time writing to a radio station to express discontent. I was so happy to listen to John Curley in the morning because I would miss him at night. He is great. The new lineup is just plain BORING. I guess boring wins. You should study East Coast morning radio where they have PERSONALITY in the morning. John Curley encompassed that. PERSONALITY. I'll be tuning into Bob Rivers and Danny Bondaduce now. Thanks for mucking it up KIRO. Dori is the only reason I even tune in now.

    NOOOOOO!!! Who ARE these malcontents??? The chemistry of the morning folks was undeniable! We made a point of listening to the time slot, when possible, of John's rants, musings, stories, the INTERPLAY HE HAD WITH EVERYONE, his spin on the news of the day. And, the great thing about Dave and Luke was, Dave AND Luke. I saw the clever earlier post of "If it ain't broke...OOPS, too late!" I say with MUCH disappointment, well said.

    Sounds like KIRO is going through a bit of a rough patch. I hope they get things back together at some point. Andrew Walsh does NOT make good evening radio. That was a great spot for Curley. Dave Ross morning news? I liked him with Burbank, fun to listen to. How long will it take to shuffle Ron and Don now? I might check back once in a while to see who's on but for now, I think I'm done with KIRO. Thanks guys
