Lineup changes at KIRO Radio

John Curley is no longer hosting Seattle's Morning News. He's still in the KIRO Radio family and we're working with him to find the best possible platform for his talent. The change was made, because KIRO Radio has been hearing from a LOT of you that you want straight-forward news, traffic and weather first thing in the morning - saving the talk shows for later in the day. We heard that message loud and clear. So, effective today we've made some adjustments to our lineup and we're doubling up on news in the morning with more news each hour delivered by two of the most respected news voices in the Northwest: Dave Ross and Linda Thomas.

KIRO RADIO LINEUP
4a-5a The Wall Street Journal
5a-9a Seattle's Morning News with Dave Ross & Linda Thomas (featuring all of the day's top stories, with traffic & weather together every 10 minutes on the 7s).
9a-10a Ross & Burbank
10a-Noon The Luke Burbank Show (with contributors including Tom Tangney and others.)
Noon-3p The Dori Monson Show
3p-7p The Ron & Don Show
7p-10p The Andrew Walsh Show
10p-4a Coast to Coast with George Noory

    I usually only listened to KIRO at my desk at work but driving home I could not turn off the radio when John was hosting as a substitute for other KIRO hosts. He is bright, funny and the BEST storyteller. When he got the morning show I thanked my lucky stars and woke up earlier just to flip on the radio at home while I got ready for work. Yes, John is better than Good Morning America. I hope and pray that you keep John on the air where he belongs.

    John was the only reason I listened in the morning. His energy helped me wake up on my commute. He gives an alternate pont of view to the typical Seattle way of thinking. Dave is fine in small doses. His way of thinkng is way to old for me.. Now if you'll just ditch Ron and Don.. Their constant interupting each other is like fingerails on a chalkboard.

    I loved JC and Tom T in the morning. If people want more news, let them tune to komo or NPR! John and Tom are a great team and a great way to start the morning. John is a breth of fresh air wih his wit, wisdom & relatability. With him gone, you have nothng to offer those of us that would like some real talk radio in the morning. Now KIRO is just like the other stations, boring, boring, boring! John Curley deserves his own show, in the morning, right where he was!! Please bring him back. Otherwise I will just listen to my cds on my commute, because heaven knows, Seatttle has no decent radio stations to listen to anymore! Leslie K.

    I agree this will just tilt KIRO more to the left. I don't think Linda is good at all. Bad change KIRO unless you put John back on in the evenings. It just shows you are out of touch with the quiet majority of your listeners. I too will discontinue listening in the morning and maybe even the evening when I drive home too. And please never put Andrew Walsh with Rachel Belle again too.

    So disappointed with the morning changes. The group did cover the news but added a great light twist. KIRO mornings are now just like every other talk radio channels.

    It was refreshing to hear John in the mornings. He made me laugh and lifted the energy for the day. So John if you are reading this, I hope that you find another time where we can listen to you. Maybe move over to KOMO in the mornings and then KIRO can see how big of a mistake that they made with the resulting ratings.

    I have been a faithful listener for several years and was so excited to finally have an energetic and informative morning team. Finally have it with John Curley and Tom and you pull John off of mornings!!! Shame on you. Never thought I would have to change my radio station in the morning but with all due respect Dave Ross is boring and offers nothing worthwhile while driving to work at 5:30 or 6:00 am to work. Will find a new am station. Hopefully you will not make such a short sited decision for evening - listen every evening to Ron, Don and Rachel Bell. Bring JOHN CURLEY BACK!!!

    If I wanted news only in the morning I would. To KING. My radio broke a couple of weeks ago and only got that station. I thought I would go mad!! The same stories every 10 minutes. I like having some levity in the morning, must we be so stuck on all news. John Curley had to grow on me, but I am going to miss that gang in the morning. Were ratings really that bad?

    What is going on at KIRO? It 's seems like an ugly version of musical hosts. First of all John Curley makes my day and I loved listening to him in the morning and on the way to work. Also the only reason I DIDN 'T vote for Dave Ross when he ran against Dave Reichert was because I thought his brand of "common sense" was reaching more people on the radio then he could in congress. Please don't relegate him to reading the news-we value his opinion. I'm so sad you listened to the whiners and not the rest your loyal viewers. I've been listening for 40 years and am so disappointed in the changes you have made!

    I really enjoy listening to John Curley....I actually did like him on the early morning lineup because I don't start listening until 7:30am and So I didn't get to hear enough of him. So maybe Dave in the morning would be fine....although I prefer the clever banter between him and Luke. I hate it when some people complain and then you make changes to appease them. Because now, we're complaining. Not everyone had the same opinion concerning the morning news. Just because we weren't vocal....just meant we had no complaints. Geez..... Just put John on the air when I can hear him (between 7:30 am and 6:00pm).
