Lineup changes at KIRO Radio

John Curley is no longer hosting Seattle's Morning News. He's still in the KIRO Radio family and we're working with him to find the best possible platform for his talent. The change was made, because KIRO Radio has been hearing from a LOT of you that you want straight-forward news, traffic and weather first thing in the morning - saving the talk shows for later in the day. We heard that message loud and clear. So, effective today we've made some adjustments to our lineup and we're doubling up on news in the morning with more news each hour delivered by two of the most respected news voices in the Northwest: Dave Ross and Linda Thomas.

KIRO RADIO LINEUP
4a-5a The Wall Street Journal
5a-9a Seattle's Morning News with Dave Ross & Linda Thomas (featuring all of the day's top stories, with traffic & weather together every 10 minutes on the 7s).
9a-10a Ross & Burbank
10a-Noon The Luke Burbank Show (with contributors including Tom Tangney and others.)
Noon-3p The Dori Monson Show
3p-7p The Ron & Don Show
7p-10p The Andrew Walsh Show
10p-4a Coast to Coast with George Noory

    Are you kidding me!? Getting rid of Curley? Who brings more energy and excitement and fun to one show than Luke does in a month of shows? Your line-up is moving steadily toward the radio equivalent of pablum. Very little variety in the way they view the world.

    KIRO management -- don't listen to the right-wingers who are crying over the loss of Curley. He was horrible and always has been. He blathers on and on about the stupidest thing. He never has a point about anything. He tells the same stories over and over and over again. He is so full of himself, that all we hear are more stories about his favorite subject -- himself. Love it that you are bringing Linda back and teaming her with Dave. Dave is intelligent and is always willing to listen to the other side of things. Ron and Don are entertaining, although I'd like it if Don would tone it down a bit and let other people finish their thoughts and not go off on tangents. But even with all of that, they are entertaining and relevant. Andrew is still too new, but I like him a lot more than I ever liked TBTL. I've like Luke teamed with Dave, but think he will do well on his own (especially if Tagney is a regular -- maybe even a teammate) in a more traditional format vs. TBTL format.

    ...I'm an old fogey and change is always hard to get used to. John Curly is/was entertaining and I do miss not having him on in the evenings even though he was gone more than he was there! His corniness in the mornings was a bit much. Andrew Walsh? Don't think I'll be listening to his show. Good old Andy... a very odd duck indeed. I hope the Ron and Don naysayers don't get their way... listening to them makes the drive home bearable.

    I concur with all of those who want John back. When he left the afternoon drive home and I found him in the morning, I was delighted! My drive is almost 2 hours long and listening to John was definitely one of the best things about my drive. So, I guess I will have to just find out where John is and go there. I won't be listening to the morning show (dry, boring, and otherwise blah) since you moved John. Maybe, instead of taking him off because of a few, you should have asked many of us!

    Love Dave Ross but morning drive-time is a unique nitch. JC made me smile and "generally" start my day in the right mood. Dave Ross at 9 is a perfect transition. JC at drive-time was a great fit and the station didn't give his program enough time to development a consistent audience -- bad move.

    Liberals don't even have a job. They just live off the government so they are not going to be the ones listening from 5-8am. They are still sleeping in. Those of us who work and have to drive to get there like listening to Curley. Please give us our Curley back in the mornings. He was giving us our news and we liked it that way. I purposely listened to KOMO this morning just to that I would not contribute to the KIRO ratings. Hopefully others will do the same so that you all at KIRO will take notice.

    Really? Really? You say your listeners want more news, traffic and weather? The 'news's is only new once and then repeated every 10 minutes, the traffic is horrible every day and it rains nearly every day so I'm not buying this as the reason John Curley is no longer on KIRO in the morning. I really enjoyed his show and I hope he's back on the air soon because my morning commute needs humor... not another weather report.

    Like others have said, John Curley made me smile in the morning too! I loved his anecdotal stories. Linda is a stuffy bore, not too mention Dave Ross followed by more Dave Ross and Luke Burbank, followed by more Luke Burbank is like a slow agonizing liberal death. Can we please find some more balance??? I won't be listening in the morning anymore, which is too bad.

    Please bring back John Curley, I need my daily fix. I will follow him wherever he ends up. Better for you if he stays at KIRO, otherwise you lose alot of listeners. I've been listening to KIRO for 15 years!I'd hate to move but I will!

    The only reason I listened to your morning show was because John Curley was erudite and funny. Now, it is once more a namby pamby "don't make waves" agenda on KIRO. Figures. I was a fan on Mr. Curley when he was on at 7 pm and I am disheartened that KIRO, again, takes the easy way out. I guess that I will have to switch over to KOMO. Or find John somewhere else.
