John Curley

Lineup changes at KIRO Radio

John Curley is no longer hosting Seattle's Morning News. He's still in the KIRO Radio family and we're working with him to find the best possible platform for his talent. The change was made, because KIRO Radio has been hearing from a LOT of you that you want straight-forward news, traffic and weather first thing in the morning - saving the talk shows for later in the day. We heard that message loud and clear. So, effective today we've made some adjustments to our lineup and we're doubling up on news in the morning with more news each hour delivered by two of the most respected news voices in the Northwest: Dave Ross and Linda Thomas.

KIRO RADIO LINEUP
4a-5a The Wall Street Journal
5a-9a Seattle's Morning News with Dave Ross & Linda Thomas (featuring all of the day's top stories, with traffic & weather together every 10 minutes on the 7s).
9a-10a Ross & Burbank
10a-Noon The Luke Burbank Show (with contributors including Tom Tangney and others.)
Noon-3p The Dori Monson Show
3p-7p The Ron & Don Show
7p-10p The Andrew Walsh Show
10p-4a Coast to Coast with George Noory

Thank you for listening.

Best Regards,

Larry Gifford, KIRO Radio Program Director

    John Curley
The format is the same but without John. Not more news, just boring Dave Ross. Goodbye to KIRO in the morning. BTW, Andrew Walsh is also pretty bland. Is he Dave's relative? Oh, and Burbank can't hold a time slot on his own. He needs to stay on Podcasts.

    No Special Curley Mornings
We no longer have any reason to stick with kiro when we wake each day. John not only helped the awesome a.m. team present the daily news, but added the personal antidotes that never missed giving us a laugh on our way off to work. Nothing special to keep us tuned in now.

By to kiro in the mornings....
To reiterate the point that has been made already, the news was already repeated every 10 mins so how can you be adding more news?? John made me think and reflect and I kept listening to the same news weather traffic every 10min just to hear him....so long kiro in the morning. Horrible move.....

    Bring John back!
I enjoyed listening to John in the mornings. He helped wake me up and get me going. I liked laughing at his news. I hope he's back on air soon.

    Wrong Move!
CRAP! no JC in the morning! Who wants the same news robot reading the same story every 15 minutes? What demographic are you trying for, the over70 morning commuter? Ross and burbank was perfect together! Now you screwed that up! What's next the Dori-Rachel Bell show? I will not be listening in the morning! Guess i will go back to a morning show with personality! Go Curley! Get him a show!

    Bad Move for Ratings
Incredibly disappointed to learn Curley's absence was more a holiday break. In my humble opinion, this is a very short-sighted decision to please a vocal sub-set of existing listeners. This will not cure your challenges of growing your audience. By no means is this a reflection of Ross or Thomas, but the new format is lifeless. Time to reprogram my KIRO pre-set in the car.

    John Curley
John Curley should definitely NOT be taken off the air, he is the best talent you have at Kiro and I am extremely bummed out that you have canned his show. I really don't understand how you could do such a thing! If you don't put him back on the air soon I'm sure another station will snatch him up, and hopefully it will at least be a local Seattle station, because I'd hate to see him go. He has a great wit about him, he is extremely entertaining and most of all the guy just flat out makes sense and speaks his mind, and that is something that is definitely missing from most of the other hosts except for maybe Dori, and Ron & Don. Just remember kiro, it's your loss, and hopefully it won't be ours too. The cream always rises to the top, and if you ditch mr Curley he'll just continue to rise elsewhere, while Kiro loses out. Do the right thing, and bring John back! He BELONGS on the morning show, and he was great. I'm probably going to give up on your station if you don't bring him back. Why not at least put him in with the other people you've got in there now, or something.... Please think it over, at least. Thank you, Bill

I knew KIRO would can Curley
Bunch of Air Force guys here who listen every morning. We turn on KIRO in the office here and often talk about how we can tell the dynamic between Curley and the test of the crew clearly isn't meshing by the comments to and from each other, constantly. Tagney, Thomas, even Kimmy seems to be a little too politically correct and caught off guard by Curleys opinions. Too funny.
