Tom’s been working so hard all weekend to get a star. Kevin Bacon is what he got.
“We will have live in studio, the one and only Kevin Bacon,” Tom Tangney announced at the start of Tuesday’s Tom and Curley Show.
“I’ve been working the phones all weekend,” he said. “He is actually going to come in here, he is going to take up the entire first segment.”
Taking a break from full-time acting, promoting the nutritious benefits of eggs, and — obviously — dancing out his frustrations in abandoned warehouses, actor Kevin Bacon will step into the KIRO Radio studio Wednesday morning as the special guest on the Tom and Curley show.
“He is the guest of honor at this year’s Seattle International Film Festival. He’s getting a career achievement award,” Tangney said.
Bacon can boast decades of starring in fan-favorite films such as “Footloose,” “Tremors,” and “Mystic River.” He currently can be seen in commercials promoting eggs, and in the TV series “The Following.” He has even inspired the pop-culture game, “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.”
“His range is incredible,” Tangney said. “He’s made like 30, 40, or 50 movies.”
To be exact, there are 80 film and TV roles to his credit, according to IMDB.com
“There’s a reason why there’s a six degrees of separation game about Kevin Bacon,” Tangney said.
The Seattle International Film Festival will host “An Evening with Kevin Bacon” Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the Cinema Egyptian. A tribute reception will precede the feature at the Grand Parlor in the Alexis Hotel at 6 p.m. Bacon will go on stage for an interview and watch clips spanning his career on the big screen before being honored with the SIFF Career Achievement award. Following the event, the audience will be treated to a screening of the actor’s latest feature, “Cop Car.”
