The good and bad news about Seattle, Star Wars and romance

Seattle’s men are given quite a hard time when it comes to dating and romance. In the Emerald City, men may seem like nothing more than stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herders.
After all, Seattle-area men apparently cause women to drink more heavily just to get through a date. Which is sort of sad since the recent tech boom has weighted the dating scene with more men than women.
But there could be good news. Seattle has made a list of top Star Wars fans on the dating market. However, that ranking favors male Star Wars fans. If it is a female fan you seek, you may be looking in Alderaan places…(get it?)
The dating website Match has crunched a few numbers derived from its service, and found that Seattle tops the list of male Star Wars fans looking for love.
Specifically, the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area ranks No. 3 in the United States to date a male Star Wars fan. The region also ranks No. 1 in terms of men and women who use Star Wars terms on their dating profiles.
That might explain why there’s an organized lightsaber battle planned for Dec. 19 at the Seattle Center. Date idea anyone?
Match’s galactic dating revelations come just in time for the release of the next edition to the Star Wars Franchise on Dec. 18: “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
The bad news
While Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue is the no. 3 city to find a man into Star Wars, don’t get cocky. Sorry guys — if you’re seeking a Leia to your Han, Seattle doesn’t even make the list on cities to find a female fan. If you want to make the drive down to Portland, however, that’s the fourth best U.S. city to find a female Star Wars fan on the dating market and the closest city to Seattle that makes the list.
Silver lining
So there are plenty of males around Seattle planning lightsaber battles and yelling “It’s a trap!” or saying some variation of “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.” But those seeking a man on the market can take relief in other data Match collected, which indicates Star Wars fans may have other desirable traits.
Star Wars fans are more often better-educated than non-Star Wars fans. They’re also more into Karate, for some reason. Fans are also three times more likely to work in the tech field, 2.5 times more likely to be in creative fields, and two times more likely to work in government.
Star Wars fans overall are also 2.7 times more likely to lean toward Liberal ideals and 2.2 times as likely to not be religious.
And if you’re seeking a man in the Emerald City, and you just can’t bring yourself to sit through a marathon of episodes IV, V, and VI (because really, does anyone ever marathon I, II or III?), don’t worry. There are also Star Trek fans out there. According to Match, Trekkies are even more educated than Star Wars fans and make more money. They are also more likely to be into sports, and will therefore be up for catching a Seahawks game.
