You know what Wednesday is — more Shower Thoughts.

Listening to Amazon

I’ve been thinking about this announcement that the City of Seattle, and other state leaders, are going to meet with Amazon to hit the “refresh button” in 2018. I hope that the people from the city will just listen. Why? Turns out that according to an extensive study commissioned by the Wall Street Journal, that Amazon is the most effectively run company in the United States.

My rule of thumb is when I’m clearly not even close to being the smartest guy in the room, I just shut up and listen.

NHL in Seattle

Speaking of brilliant ideas, my co-worker Zac Burns has one for when an NHL team comes to the Pacific Northwest. The name of the team should be “The Seattle Freeze.” I don’t know if he came up with that, but he is where I heard it and it’s genius. They would sell a lot of merchandise with that name.

Astro-football

One more shower thought related to sports, but not about sports.

You may have heard about astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson weighing in on a lateral play during the Seahawks game last Sunday. Tyson says it was a clear example of a Galilean Transformation. I went and looked up what that was, and I’m dumbfounded by the math. I have a huge admiration of anyone who’s math ability can handle equations that are all letters and no numbers. I’m lucky if I can still solve for X.

Santa

What’s the size of Santa’s warehouse?

Travel

Does anyone in the Ron & Don Nation have a website that shows you all the possible travel deals from Seattle without having to choose a specific destination? I’ve tried Kayak and Google Flights, but I’m not really thrilled with them. Email me.

Music

If you have problems chilling out at home, I’ve been trying out an album by the composer who wrote the theme to Dexter. It’s called “The Zen Effect.” The composer is named Rolfe Kent, and he created half hour tracks that help your mind settle down. So far, it seems to be helping.

You deserve it

And finally, buy yourself that gift on your list that you know nobody else is going to buy. You deserve it.
