If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, maybe consider a trip to Alaska because the odds in Western Washington are pretty slim.

The National Weather Service in Seattle says the odds are about 5 percent for 1 inch or more of snow on Dec. 25.

Head north if you want those odds to double. There’s a 10 percent chance of snow in Bellingham on Christmas Day.

If you insist on a white Christmas, you’ll have to head to Paradise on Mount Rainier where the odds are 100 percent. Eastern Washington will also likely get snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The last time it snowed on Christmas in Western Washington was in 2008.

Outside of Washington state, your best chances for seeing snow in the lower 48 are in Maine, New York, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Minnesota, and in the Rocky Mountains.
