A tale of Christmas to come
Dec 25, 2017, 5:23 AM
It was just before Christmas, the kids were in bed,
The doors were locked tight, the pets were all fed,
And I was downstairs doing what I do best
Asleep with the TV remote on my chest
When over the house there arose such a buzz
I sprang from my chair to see just what it was.
Away to the window I flew in a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
And staring at me, as I stood there alone,
Was the unblinking lens of a quadcopter drone.
Its lights how they twinkled! Its rotors how blurry!
And the thing seemed to be in a terrible hurry.
It moved toward the chimney, and that’s where it hovered
As I, through binoculars, quickly discovered
An FAA decal, as clear as could be,
With only two letters: An “S” and a “C”.
So THAT’s how his gifts are delivered on time–
Santa’s a member of Amazon Prime!
And ope’ning its doors, making wishes come true,
The drone dropped its packages straight down the flue!
And when the last package was neatly disposed,
It revved itself up, and flew off to who knows?
And I thought to myself, as it buzzed out of sight,
What a wondrous thing to have witnessed that night.
Too see what I saw with my very own eyes:
A world where gifts really do drop from the skies!
A world that delivers your holiday cheer,
Not just on Christmas, but all through the year!
And you’re STILL free to leave cookies out on the sill–
If Santa don’t get them, then Jeff Bezos will…
