This is not the president keeping his promise

On Thursday, President Barack Obama announced changes to his health care law to give insurance companies the option to keep offering consumers plans that would otherwise be canceled. The administrative changes are good for just one year.
There is a talking point that some of the mainstream media is already using that this is the president’s effort to honor his promise that you can keep your health care plan.
However, I would like to point out that the president didn’t say if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan for one extra year. That cancellation notice that you got, you’re going to get it again in about nine months. If you like your health care plan, you can lose your health care plan twice. That was not the promise. The promise was you could keep your health care plan and it was nonsense.
Obama knew it was nonsense. Democrats in the Senate knew it was nonsense. Democrats in the House new it was nonsense. But they went along with it anyway.
Now, they’re pretending not to because it’s too embarrassing. It was too explicit of a promise and because of the roll-out embarrassment, they’re convinced that the stupid, frightened people have not had the opportunity yet to figure out that they shouldn’t be upset that their health care plan has been canceled.
So he’s going to delay these cancellations for a year. But he’s also going to make sure the insurance companies have to tell you how bad those plans are.
Again, the assumption is that the American people are stupid, frightened people. And those who are upset about losing their health care plans, they just don’t realize how bad those plans are, and how great the exchanges are, and if they understood things properly, they would not be so foolish, and they would not be so afraid.
They wouldn’t even be upset about the broken promise because after all, that promise was just made because they were stupid, frightened people, and when they lose that health care plan, they’ll prefer to lose that health care plan.
