The Evil that Men do: Human Trafficking

Democrat Washington State Senator Jeanne Kohl Wells chaired a hearing of the Senate Law and Justice Committee regarding SB 5669 which would toughen penalties and give law enforcement additional tools in combating human trafficking.

Former Congresswoman Linda Smith testified and introduced two brave young women who experienced the cruelty of trafficking. The first was “Brianna” who as a young girl, honor student, athlete, was almost sold into sexual slavery. She narrowly escaped thanks to a friend’s parent who had heard Linda Smith talk about what to watch out for when kids are being lured into sexual slavery. The second woman, “Marie” described being victimized by her family, the social service system, the justice system, and finally, by traffickers. It’s heartbreaking testimony, yet you will find yourself awed by her inner strength and determination.
