The contest for state GOP chair expanded from two to three candidates Friday morning.
Monique Valenzuela Trudnowski announced her candidacy on 770 KTTH’s Jason Rantz Show. The current Washington state GOP chairman Susan Hutchison announced her resignation earlier this week.

Trudnowski is a founding member of the Washington Tourism Alliance, the chair of the the Tacoma Public Utility Board, and a restaurateur.
Trudnowski’s goals are, among other things, to bolster the party message, boost candidate recruitment, and build the party’s grassroots operations.
“What we need to do is focus on how to gain seats in Washington state, how to ignite the voter base, and how to raise money for Conservative values,” she said. “We need to take back this state and show true voters what a Conservative government looks like, because they’ve never had it.”
Trudnowski will compete for the position with Caleb Heimlich, the current executive director of the state party, and Lance Henderson, who served as executive director of the state party in the 90s.
If selected, Trudnowski would be the first woman of color to hold the office.
